That's where they still go, but they are usually missing key parts of equipment by the time they arrive and are either non-functional or practically non-functional. Still, America's allies pay very good money for faulty, crappy, obsolete equipment, while the US gives the good stuff to countries like Pakistan - countries that it has to keep on-side for geopolitical reasons, but that will turn on the US and undermine its activities in a heartbeat.

Not that I'm bitter or anything. I just don't see why the hell treaties like ANZUS still exist, when they aren't worth the paper they're written on.
