It was touch and go here, with some scattered clouds but clear skies when we saw the sun's last crescent, totality, the corona, and then the bailey bead when it was coming out. Everyone was yelling "put the glasses back on." And yes, the streetlights came on.

It was worth the trip and the aggravation. I won't forget what it looks like to see a black hole in the sky.

The maximum was about 60% here in Los Angeles. I went outside with my eclipse glasses (for the May 2012 one). My neighbor was getting out of his car and saw me looking at the sky, so came over. Neither he nor his wife were aware of the eclipse, and they were very excited to have a look through the glasses.

Cloudy here. It feels like it's 45 minutes after sunset. We're supposed to have 91.6% coverage here.

My full knowledge of the eclipse comes from a review of it by two surfers in front of me in line at Starbucks. They reported it was "totally bogus."

We're only getting about 85% here, but I'm watching it get darker on the Nashville traffic cams.
It was 100% here. It was about 1/2 hour after sunset dark, not pitch black.

Got about 45 seconds of clear view before a cloud went over it. Shining through the cloud was pretty too though.

I think it was about 83% coverage here. It's been mostly cloudy, but the sun was in a clear space about 15 minutes before maximum. Then the clouds re-thickened, but that was cool because you could see the sliver of sun through the clouds.

I just stepped outside to experience the supposed maximum effect here in western Maryland.

The sunlight seems somewhat less intense than it usually is, but that's all. I don't have the special glasses, so I didn't look up.

So for me, a big nothing burger. :(

Even though it's cloudy, everyone was up on the roof of the building I work at in downtown Chicago

Same here.
I have some friends saying it went totally dark where they were, and some (who were closer to the center of totality) who posted excited photos of "the streetlights came on!" and yet it doesn't look dark at all. Absolutely nothing I would have driven 8 hours to sort-of see.

Phone camera didn't want to get an image of the eclipse, but the light made the clouds look amazing:

Well, it's scientists who say that you shouldn't look at the sun without eye protection, but it's FOX which says that scientists = fake news.

If he can't read a teleprompter tonight, we are in serious trouble (but not as much trouble as the people in Afghanistan).
