😳Did you do this sort of thing before law school, Maybenaut? I half expected him to hog-tie the ship and throw it on its back.
I gotta say, though, yelling at a submarine seems, um, kinda ineffective. ;)

Nope. I did this sort of thing:

And this:

And this (although we actually had to *read* the weather broadcast - in those days we didn’t have a machine that could do it for us)

And this (right before law school I worked in computer support and CTOS was cutting edge):

Safe to say he's left wing then. First armed left wing attack of the year? Doesn't seem like he even fired a shot so it probably doesn't count.

Shock As Dried-Up Waterfall Comes Gushing Back To Life
July 11, 2019 Lee Bullen 0 Comments dried, nature, River, Shocking, Waterfall
This is the moment a group of tourists has run clear from a dried-up waterfall after it suddenly came gushing back to life.

Story By: Lee Bullen; Sub-Editor: Joseph Golder; Agency: AsiaWire Report;

The incident took place at the Rahatgarh Waterfall in the district of Sagar in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh when several groups from nearby towns visited the dried-up waterfall for the day, according to reports.

Several people were walking close to the waterfall to take selfies when it suddenly gushed back to life.

As seen in the video footage, dozens of people are situated on the rocks on top of the cascade while a small group is at the bottom.

The elevated group looks on as the water emerges and gushes down the waterfall while at least four young men at the base have to run clear of the onrushing flow.

According to local media, the Bina River which feeds the waterfall had a huge intake of rainwater after a distant monsoon triggered flash floods in the region.

in the "caught in my assumptions" folder:

Was at/in a big car show this weekend in PA. Sunday morning met a guy as we were leaving the loo, started talking while walking
He (in a deep southern drawl): "Nice weather for the show this weekend!"
Me: "Yeah, humidity is coming up though.."
He: "Hell it's wicked hot and humid where I'm from"
Me: "where's that?"
He: "South Carolina"
Me: "Well I gotta get used to it.. I'm from Massachusetts, but moving to Florida"
(at this point we are walking toward someone's canopy with a "TRUMP 2020 NO MORE BULLSHIT" banner, maybe 100ft ahead)
He: "Man Florida is growing like crazy.. I have a lot of customers down there.. I guess we can thank Trump for that (slight chuckle, pointing toward the banner)"
Me, to my self: "oh damn, here it comes.."

He: "Jeezus he's an asshole.."

That just made my day :)

Mark your calendars. Today, July 15 2019, some six weeks after my landline phone + DSL were supposed to be turned on, some 3 weeks since it actually was turned on, I have taken "Call Verizon" off my to-do list.

They have:

1) finally stripped from my bill a series of charges for restoration of service in May that not a single representative could explain,

2) removed a series of charges for calls to Direct Assistance (at $2.99 a pop) that I did not make--a position that was supported by the fact that several of the calls were billed for dates after the bills were posted, and

3) given me a $25 credit for my trouble.

I am expecting Verizon to change its name to SkyNet any day now.

In the meantime, I am counting the days till when the alternative internet provider makes its way up my dead-end dirt road. They are currently 12 miles away, so they may get here before snow flies.

Of all my many battles with phone/internet companies, this now ranks as the most epic, eclipsing that long-ago time (Florida, Jan 2019) when Comcast gave me a sweetheart deal, then reneged on it without bothering to tell me and shunted me to the highest-priced plan they had.
No matter where you go, there you are! :towel:

No limit: AI poker bot is first to beat professionals at multiplayer game
Triumph over five human opponents at Texas hold’em brings bots closer to solving complicated real-world problems.
Douglas Heaven

Machines have raised the stakes once again. A superhuman poker-playing bot called Pluribus has beaten top human professionals at six-player no-limit Texas hold’em poker, the most popular variant of the game. It is the first time that an artificial-intelligence (AI) program has beaten elite human players at a game with more than two players1.

“While going from two to six players might seem incremental, it’s actually a big deal,” says Julian Togelius at New York University, who studies games and AI. “The multiplayer aspect is something that is not present at all in other games that are currently studied.”

The team behind Pluribus had already built an AI, called Libratus, that had beaten professionals at two-player poker. It built Pluribus by updating Libratus and created a bot that needs much less computing power to play matches. In a 12-day session with more than 10,000 hands, it beat 15 top human players. “A lot of AI researchers didn’t think it was possible to do this using [our] techniques,” says Noam Brown at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Facebook AI Research in New York, who developed Pluribus with his Carnegie colleague Tuomas Sandholm.

Has anyone been listening to the NPR podcast of Bundyville? If so is it good, accurate, biased? I know that I am behind but I just discovered it. Thanks.
