Feynman’s piano tuner was also our piano tuner. Oh, the stories!

Last fall I went with mr520’s tai chi class to the Ghengis Kahn exhibit at the Reagan Library. The exhibits were amazing. At the end of the tour there was a brief show with a tuva singer, a man who played the horse head instrument, and a Mongolian dancer. I was transfixed by all of them.

I guess "Bernie 2020" will have a thread... I never felt the burn. So, this was a recent FB post.
Ok. More of a rant.
********
*********
I support progressive policies.
Ones that can work.
What does that mean? Not to be half baked.

The worst thing about 45 is what he is costing us --a future of being competitive and not being the late adapter to the changes that are coming to society.
And, they will come fast as AI and automation redefine an economy where "labor isn't what adds value" ( the true basis of Socialism and Communism--that ownership and control isn't for an Aristocracy, but for those who create the value) and renewables put an energy based economy off the table as homes and cities drop off the grid.

Going back to coal and fossil fuels for their last grab for profits, instead of investing in research and infrastructure --which is far more important, will cost decades of future health for the economy..

But, brick and mortar "college for all" is impossible and instead a micro payment and merit based fully inclusive economy is coming.

We need a Constitutional amendment to get control of our data and identity.

Not just about who owns it, or breaking it into pieces, but that it shouldn't exist at all-- and therefore expires and is deleted.

Putting out (intentionally) boiler point wacko cow-fart and "green economy" nonsense, without discussing "Why" and how it builds prosperity and that almost no one "loses" (except fossil fuels, etc) is imperative.

It sure as hell isn't about transgender bathrooms in elementary schools, and social justice "mobs with pitchforks".

Be the damn adults in the room that understand Why and When and How.

Including having played with a federal budget simulator (I know of several), to where people can respect and trust that solutions bandied about aren't somebody's DMT experience from the night before.

For God's sake. Have a winning strategy.

If all resistance went away--have the answers in a ready to implement way that have the "oppositions" ( because there isn't an opposition, just different people) concerns addressed.

Listen to people.
The democratic party regularly bloodies their faces as they come out of their bubbles and get indignant when they don't have an answer to the bloody first question.

Yes.
The entire goddamn country knows that our politicians, after we elect them, forget whom they work for.

That's the point to hammer on there.
That is, people are too busy to plan the country's future, so wish somebody gave a damn for more than a two year plan.

And no ONE person can do that. It takes a legion of determined experts and hot shots and wise elephants.

Sanders couldn't pull a team like together if he wanted to.
Worse.
He doesn't want to. He hits the same tired bumper sticker sound bites that don't get interest because every one knows that, if given a green light, he doesn't have the foggiest idea of how to connect one dot to another.

And, he sure as hell isn't a team player or sort of Maven with connections.

Progressive doesn't mean shrill and indignant. It means wanting to bring progress, to make change.
Which, by the way, means there should be a goddamn plan.

AOC's Green Disaster didn't have to be paraded around before it was ready.
There wasn't a due date.

There was more harm done, well into the 2020 election cycle, by that typical "look at me" 8th grade ill considered crap.

And, I dont expect the Democratic Party to have a unified voice.

For God's sake, at least be ready to discuss something on the merits.
Because, if you can't-- you get one chance.

That's today. That's for real.

Convince me that Bernie doesn't have the above described faults, and I'll look.

But, I'm damn well as progressive as most and am just so tired of amateur hour.

Meet the youngest ever female figure skater to land a triple axel
Posted by Pip CookP

13-year-old Alysa Liu recently became the youngest woman ever to land one of the hardest moves in figure skating.

Alysa Liu stunned judges last month as she became the youngest ever figure skater to land a triple axel - before going on to land another, moments later. The feat earned her the title of US women’s figure skating champion - the highest accolade at national level, and another achievement that sees her smash records by become the youngest female skater to do so.

Liu glided seemingly effortlessly through her routine after landing the notoriously difficult manoeuvre twice early on in her skate, taking to the ice immediately after defending champion Bradie Tennell fell during her programme. The prodigy stole the show, and was overcome with emotion when judges announced her score.

Well. My life has gotten far too interesting again.

At 2am Monday I woke up to a text message from the director of Baltimore Shakespeare saying that he had to fire the fellow playing Cymbeline before the opening weekend was even done. And asking if I could step in for the rest of the run.

And so I am now trying to learn a 150-line part and all the blocking and fight choreography by Friday.

Congrats, Roadscholar! That's really awesome! Is this the same company you built the set for? How cool to act on a set you built yourself?!! That's really neat!

Break a leg part deux!

So, I was unaware of Cymbeline, or perhaps asleep in some class of yore. I went on a interwebz hunt and found a famous quote which Fogbowzers will like -"Puppies!"

I'm not a cat owner, but from cat videos it seems that cats are just as attracted to laptop keyboards as they were to warm TV tops.

Keyboards are just a modern replacement. In my student days the cat preferred to sit on my homework or study books in front of me and breath into my face ;)

My sweet calico is sound asleep on my shoulder right now. Her butt perched on the back of my chair and her head and front paws on my shoulder. No sudden moves or the little pointed toes will make their appearance.

I find it curious that the Smollett case, that finds a lot of traction in the media, has found none in fogbow (that I can find).
