Moving the Avebury stones for British Summer Time

For April Fool's Day 2016 we ran the following news story, did you fall for it?

Avebury stone circle is the world's largest prehistoric monument, a World Heritage site set in the heart of Wiltshire. This ancient site was primarily used as a time-keeping device that worked in a similar way to a sundial. Unfortunately, the adoption of British Summer Time has disrupted the accuracy of the site, creating a weighty challenge for our team of rangers.

When daylight savings was adopted in 1916 it meant that the Avebury stone circle was no longer accurate for six months of the year. Since we acquired the site in 1942, we have been accounting for the change by moving some of the stones in line with the clocks changing.

It's many a year since I last saw that, but it was brilliant; thanks for the link. Googling further, the BBC has a short write-up about it at On This Day: 1957: BBC fools the nation and some viewers' reflections at On This Day: 1957: Spaghetti fools. I have a paperback reprint of an early Elizabeth David recipe book (probably Mediterranean Cookery, but possibly not) in which the editor explains in the book's introduction how parochial English cuisine was then, especially after the austerity and rationing following WW2 - for example, Elizabeth David could only buy olive oil in small bottles from pharmacies, not from food shops.

I suppose these responses to 45's latest tweets belong in the Trump tweet thread, but I can't resist putting them here.

Beginning April 1, we are doing away with Dewey and switching to color-coded bookshelves. Forget those confusing numbers! Look for your book in the following sections: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, or Violet. Read the rainbow at SML!

Yesterday someone on TFB posted an article purportedly from the NYTimes (wrong type face, though) about Trump stepping in and releasing from jail all the Bundys and their hangers-on, all charges dropped. It was decently done, with the byline of two real NYT reporters, and a quote from Jeffrey Toobin, among others. I didn't even have a chance to really peruse that fake news before poof! it was gone. It also appeared very briefly in the Oregonian and on Twitter, and disappeared just as fast from those two websites. When I saw it on the Fogbow yesterday, I assumed it was an April Fools trick and that the writer had unintentionally clicked "submit" when s/he had meant to save it for today.

Does anybody know anything about that fake NYT's article? To the best of my recollection, I saw it on the Bundy Trial Nevada thread, but I only had my phone yesterday, so investigation was difficult and it might have been the gossip thread.

Stern: Come back. My posts are becoming sloppy and ill-thought out.

First I heard about that but I am really behind in reading here and the Poot Facebook pages.
I just looked at some Facebook accounts and will add this here.

Okay, I just got off the phone with an angel at the White house comment line.. She had me go through all the names, dates, everything.. She is marking it as URGENT Political Prisoners being held in Nevada.. She was horrified by what I told her is happening to Ryan & Ammon Bundy and Ryan Payne. all the men. she took down all the names. When I told her about LaVoy. She BECAME ALMOST FRANTIC in her due diligence of making sure she had all the facts written correctly. She had no idea about any of it.. She assured me she would do everything she could to get this message in front of Trump. She has also instructed me to hand write a letter.. Just in case her attempt was thwarted. Another reason for the letter, would be so I could give my Name, address and Phone # in case someone wanted to talk to me more about the issue. Keep calling, or write a letter. speak calmly and plainly. And don't give up if you get an Obama minion on the phone. call back until you get a hold of the right soul. There are no names allowed on the comment line..I gave my name, spelled out and my phone # at the beginning of the call anyways. lol I know it is recorded.. I wish I knew her name.. She is going to pray for all of them.. All of us.

Okay...
You must address the envelope to the Office of the President
These were her instructions.
address the envelope:
URGENT
Office of President Donald J. Trump
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

On the letter head:
Urgent Political prisoners being held in Nevada.

She told me this will be fast tracked to the President.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!!!!!
