I came home the other day to quite a racket. Sprout and our little pug were on the sofa, hubby in his rocker, our rotten lab mix on the floor at his feet, all of them howling like wolves! A minute later, I heard the other two dogs in the compoundjoin in.It was a riot!

Another sad but happy/heartwarming (but then sad again) dog story:[imgwidth=]http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-a ... 2151_n.jpg[/imgwidth][/break1]puppieslovers.net/more/93-3/Happy-Blind-Great-Dane-And-Her-Lovely-Giant-Guide-Dog]http://www.puppieslovers.net/more/93-3/ ... -Guide-DogA long and fulfilling life did not seem likely when vets were forced to remove the eyes of Lily, a great dane. The thing that no one could have predicted is how her buddy Maddison would rise to the occasion and become an amazing guide dog for her.The two of them had been close companions for many years but the owners could no longer keep them so they had to look for a new home. The people that would be adopting them had to take them as a package deal, so they could continue as a pair.

I am beyond sad and heartbroken. My 17-plus year old best boy, Tao Shen, died early yesterday morning. He left us on his favorite spot, with his mommy and daddy next to him. He was the sweetest animal I have ever known, and when I can stop crying, I will tell you the story that cemented that. But for right now, it is hard to see the keyboard.

I'm terribly sorry to hear it. We went through that in May and it's a pain that will never leave us.It does subside, though. Remember the good times.

My best dog was PopTop, named by the neighborhood kids for the way he ran through the tall grass like a rabbit, with just his head popping up every once in a while. We called him Pops or Fatherdog. He was a Norwegian Elkhound.I used to take him to work with me at the hippy emporium. One day, out of the blue, he ran low to the ground, charged the front door and launched himself at two guys coming in. They fled, but as we gathered to discuss whether the dogs should be allowed to come to work anymore if they were going to try to kill our customers, we discovered that the cashiers had seen the same two guys loitering around the store the last couple of days, watching the shift changes with particular attention. It was Christmas and the cash registers were stuffed full all day long.We later discovered they had also been noticed around the neighborhood by other merchants. Shortly after this incident, they did rob a store down the block. They were caught. My dogs's photo was posted at the front door with the story underneath, to discourage anyone else. ;) I miss him more than any other...well, except for Chouie our Sharpei/Ridgeback mix. He used to "help" my neighbor build cabinets and could tell the difference between a hammer and a staple gun. He's the one who stole the turkey off the counter. #-o

Seventeen years is a good, long dog's lifetime. He was loved and well treated. I know it's a loss for you, Bill, but ... he was a lucky, lucky dog to have you in his life.
