My great-grandmother would have appreciated that product.

In the back acreage of my grandma's old house, there's an almost brand new mink coat, buried in the 1930's because she got skunked. Legendary story in my fambly.
I hope y'all are still wearing your seat belts!

Hell, this alone should win Biden the election! Not just one dog but the added value of another one who is a rescue! This might even convince my BIL!

Back on May 3rd, I wrote about Ted's blood problem. It's immune-mediated thrombocytopenia, an auto-immune disease that destroys platelets within the body. He was loaded with immune suppressing medicine, but he still had very low platelets. There's a tick borne disease that can cause that same thing, so we added another the medication for that, but nothing improved. The steroid pills were increased. Nothing. The last thing to trial was a systemic immunosuppressent that the vet said many dogs couldn't tolerate because of the side effects. Ted's been on it for two weeks. No improvement the first week, but no noticeable side effects. And then the vet told me that 1 in 5 dogs do not recover.

I didn't post about it because... well, I was sad and worried about Ted. I'd check him while he napped. When he hung out in the yard. Searched for signs of bruising. Watched for side effects.

We went back to the vet today for another blood test. His platelets are in the normal range! Due to social distancing, I did not hug the vet and the staff. I did hug Ted. A lot. Still am. We are going to be best buddies for awhile longer.
:lovestruck: :happydance: :dogballoon:

The only downer is that Petco is canceling Ted's grooming appointment because Ted can't get his vaccinations while on his immunesuppressents. I got a letter from the vet that Ted isn't contagious and can't be vaccinated for the time being. I'm taking it to Petco just in case I can get the manager to change her mind. But given the great news I got today, I'm not stressing about the grooming.
