Sophie is :lovestruck: beautiful, what a sweet face. I love her feets.

Three of our beloved four are siblings, inevitable foster fails from a couple of years ago. Though they’ve been with us since their eyes opened and are playful and affectionate with house humans and each other, and even with Queen Grace, a 13 year old tuxie who is half the size of the smallest sib and was a little, er, testy with them until she realized she is their queen and now rules them with ear-twitches, none of them are lap cats. Wherever we are, they’re draped nearby, just not on us. :( Things are always changing with Katz, though, so I am hopeful.

I can’t sleep. We’re in the throes of moving and it’s the holidays and I have lists on my brain, ever-shifting dates for contractors and CHAOS generally :rolleye: . Most pressing for me is where to stash the cats during the three days when hordes of jack-booted young men, many of them named Pink*, will be clomping around their domain, stealing their favorite sleeping spots and rearranging, a suspicious activity to be sure. We were just at the vet for their two year check up and even though they’re fine and didn’t need vaccines, this was the first visit they didn’t enjoy so much, thanks. Sabbath hissed! Arthur peed in his carrier!

Do I send them there, where at least they know them even if they hate every minute of it or find a cat-only boarding facility closer to the new place, with strangers, where they might hate every minute of it...or not? If they’re going to be miserable, which is the least miserable for them?

I’ve loved and moved many cats over the years but these are the only ones who have never been outdoor cats and are truly delicate flowers compared to the others. I ponders and ponders. No sleep for a while, I guess. :violin:

Is there any way you could just keep them in one room at the new place that is off-limits to the Pinks? Maybe get them to move all the stuff for that one room in before taking the cats over there? Don't even unpack it, just off load it into the room then put the cats in there while they do the rest of the house? Ours explored all the packed boxes and piled furniture in the one room and got used to the smell of the new house for a couple of days before we gave them the run of the new place.

Ya know Sugar I think that would work! There is an out of the way room that they’ll love, floor to ceiling shelves and cubbies. The movers are accommodating. That’s easy to plan ahead. 🤗 :bighug: :lovestruck:

Still can’t sleep, but that problem’s solved!

Since Sophie was so well-received, I figured it would only be fair to post a picture of Mrs. FRP and my other cat, Hitchens. We just call him Hitch. He's 7, but has never grown out of kittenhood, to the great annoyance of Sophie when he wants to play with her. Back when my wife used to think that Sophie didn't like her, she spotted this gray furball at a local shelter. I was being the voice of reason, until Mrs. FRP bribed me by letting me name him after my favorite author.

His fur is ridiculously soft, and he frequently acts more like a dog than a cat. He comes when called, talks back to us, demands all of our attention, is not at all selective about who he solicits for pets (Sophie is quite selective), and he has absolutely no compunctions whatsoever about waking us up at 5 AM by meowing at the top of his lungs and knocking over pictures on the dresser because he wants his breakfast right now, dammit.

I both love and hate this cat.

Tricksy is almost 8 months, and 7.6 lbs. when we got her, she was 3 months and 3.0 lbs. She’s clearly in her early teens now: rambunctious, fearless, and questions everything. Her favorite activities are red dot and searching out bed mice. Plus she has discovered YARN as I dragged out some to whip up a Christmas present.

Tricksy is all legs and length. She looks like a ferret sometimes. Tail to nose when she stretches out she’s... very long. She’s going to be a big ‘un. Her tail is pure fluff. We suspect some Maine Coon Ancestry.
