Fortunately, we got the all-clear a few minutes after occupying the closet. We have a basement, but she can't go up/down the stairs anymore, so I picked the most central closet in the house. But we've not only had a mild spring so far, the past three years have been uneventful as far as severe weather goes, so I hadn't cleared enough stuff out of the closet in advance. Picture waves of stuff flying out the closet, then me hurriedly maneuvering a wheelchair - damn, that won't work. Run to kitchen, grab chair, run to bedroom, grab walker, hustle mom out of wheelchair and back into closet/chair. Scoop cat, squeeze in beside her, shut door. Oof.

I'll have to finish clearing it today and find some place to store all the stuff. Problem is, she now has so much medical supplies, we're already squeezed for storage space.

Do you have a bathroom in the hall? The tub, with a mattress over it is an acceptable hole. And if you don't use the tub, it makes a good storage place too. :)

The bathroom has an outside wall, with a window over the tub, so it won't do. My bedroom closet is on the other side of the bathroom wall, and is spacious enough that I could roll her chair right in there and pack a half-dozen other people in, too - but the neighbor's big silver maple hangs over that end of our house. If it comes down in a bad storm, it'll smash right through my roof over the bathroom and my bedroom. So I picked the most central closet in the house, figuring it was best to have as many walls between us and the outside as possible.

While we await the large storm which is moving to the SE with trepidation another pop up storm over Trinity Bay has grown large enough to rain on us.

Our current NWS forecast is 40% chance of rain.

The storm has reached NW Houston as you can infer from the traffic map.

We were supposed to have more nice weather with a chance of a few showers; now Bertha is going to dump about an inch on us by tomorrow morning. For a lot of places, an inch isn't a lot of rain. It's a good bit here.

That pop up grew as it moved to the NE. It has now sparked a tornado warning in Liberty County.

Looks like the new storm will stay by the Mexican coast then head into the center of the Gulf.

Jim Cantore

@JimCantore
#TD3 has been designated by NHC and has a high likelihood of becoming Tropical Storm #Cristobal before finding land again. NHC forecasts TS by Tuesday which would make it the earliest to the 3rd named storm of the season on RECORD. It will move south before going north again.

Getting warmish here. I hate moving my three quarter acre lawn in this. Hopefully the Deere rider will arrive next week.
