The snow totals around here vary from place to place, but it set a record for the amount of snow on yesterday's date. I think the official total is over eight inches. It's also the third highest total spring snowfall since record keeping. At our place we had about nine inches. It was the highest amount of snow all winter. It's not warming up as much as was expected, so it might take some judicious shoveling. The nice thing about a March snowfall is that it won't be around very long.

We had a lot less snow than eastern PA, but this is the first time I can remember a Nor'easter coming this far west. It edged into Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana.

At Least 1 Dead, Water Rescues Reported as Torrential Rainfall Hammers Southern California

Crews in Southern California conducted water rescues Thursday as deadly heavy rainfall continued, threatening mudslides and flooding.

A 19-year-old woman was killed Wednesday after she lost control of her vehicle in the rain on Highway 41, west of the city of Atascadero, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune. The car slid roughly 10 feet down an embankment and struck a tree, breaking it in half.

Ten people were saved from the Salinas River in Paso Robles Thursday, the Tribune reports. Six were airlifted to safety by a state Highway Patrol helicopter and the other four were retrieved by firefighters who swam out to them. Two people were taken to a hospital for treatment.

Southern California authorities ordered the evacuations of residents living in burn areas at risk from the heaviest rainfall of the season. Evacuations ordered by the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department include areas burned by the Thomas, Sherpa and Whittier fires, according to a press release.

The heavy rain, hail and tornadoes look like they will stay just north of us which is good because the garage is full of new major appliances and floor tile so we can't get the new van inside. :?

The area north of Houston above Beltway 8 is getting pounded. :(

The article doesn't speak to whether planes are landing there. Mr. Filly is in the air, trying to get back from the East Coast.

The worst part of the storm has moved east beyond IAH. Here in Baytown I can hear lots of thunder but the heavy rain and winds remain to the north.

I'm not in the Midwest (although pretty close), but that looks about right for here this winter. I woke up to snow again this morning. It's freakin' April 8! :eek2:

We are already in mud season here. That means hillsides come sliding down, along with houses and roads occasionally.

Thankfully, in a couple days I'm heading for the Mediterranean Sea.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha, it's been mud season in the PNW since last September. I've been wearing my muck boots for eight months straight. Yesterday it rained. Today it is pouring rain. I don't have the heart to look at the weather forecast for the coming week.

As for the Mediterranean, my spouse and I were signed up for a fly-fishing refresher course to be held at one of the local lakes. It got cancelled due to the forecast of high winds. Next week we will refresh our casting skills so that we can catch big trout when we head to Alaska!

(enjoy your trip!)

Well, mud season started here about six weeks ago, so I guess I can't complain, but then I live on a gentle slope, not a steep hill.

Enjoy Alaska, one of our favorite places!

April 14 and it's BLIZZARDING!!! :cussing:

It's about 26 degrees with very gusty winds and heavy snow. They're saying we'll probably get more than a foot of snow here in the Twin Cities.

Again... April. :waiting: Where's spring?

Oh... the Twins had a home game scheduled for right now. They've postponed it because of... BLIZZARD! :madguy:

Warm sunny day, we have all the windows open letting in the fresh air..

But we have to remember to close them before we go to bed, because we'll have freezing rain by morning.

This is one of the most incredible temperature contrasts that i've seen in almost 2 decades of forecasting in #WNY. It is literlly Mid-summer in central PA and mid-winter in Upstate NY. 61° temperature contrast from State College to Saranac Lake!!!! #ROC

Rain. Pretty much every damn day for weeks now. Flooded roads. Mudslides. Potholes. I'm going to venture out soon to buy more bleach to wipe down the mold that's on almost damn thing. Also, benadryl. I either have a cold or the mold is affecting me.

Also, too, wine & brie... Lots of wine. And bleach.

Forecast: rain everyday until a week from Sunday. Followed by more rain.

You could move to Portland, and get the same thing. Except our wine and brie are made locally. Neeners. :)

For once the wind is blowing from a beneficial direction. My driveway and back deck are both clear. Some of my neighbors have drifts piled more than half the height of their garage doors.
