I can understand weather folks wanting to stand out in the hurricane to report on it, but they're idiots. With the speed the winds are blowing, they don't have a hope of dodging large debris which could kill them.
Speaking as a guy who represents hurricane experts, the idea is to show people what's going on so they don't leave their homes to see it for themselves. Plus of course it's ratings, everybody wants to see if there's a disaster on the air. Nobody's forced to do it, the networks ask for volunteers to cover these storms. The one thing that's annoying is having the old guys out... there should be younger guys and girls who don't blow away. Mike Cantore is getting too old for this! Derek Van Dam is a great example, he's young and hot and very knowledgeable, he's a CNN Weather Anchor.

Jim Cantore, not Mike.

I suspect someone would have to tie him up and drug him to keep him from "leaning into the wind" until he's 90.

A tornado with 155 MPH would be an F2, FWIW. So he may not be totally off this time.

Sorry Sugar! I have Michael on my mind, of course he's Jim Cantore. :P

Here's Jeff Masters' latest: https://www.wunderground.com/cat6/Poten ... -Panhandle
Catastrophic damage will occur: Well-built framed homes can sustain severe damage with loss of most of the roof structure and/or some exterior walls. Most trees will be snapped or uprooted and power poles downed. Fallen trees and power poles will isolate residential areas. Power outages will last weeks to possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months.

“Does anyone else think it’s strange that Justice K is sworn in and we have a major hurricane inbound? :snippity: I warned weeks ago that there would all kinds of attacks to disrupt the elections. No coincidence this monster storm is hitting the most conservative area of Florida. Never in history has been a Cat 4 in the month of Oct. 100 year storm. All the southeast affected. Pray!” he tweeted Wednesday morning.
Now I'm no expert in reading God's intent, but it seems to me that one would punish the bad guys, like the ones that didn't believe the woman. Also, who could possibly have predicted a hurricane in the middle of hurricane country in the middle of hurricane season? OH, I forgot about the Weather Machine.

Also. not the only Cat 4 in October. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_C ... d_by_month

A very difficult time navigating through eastern Panama City right now. Almost every road is blocked in some way from power poles, large trees and structural damage. So many trees down on homes. @Jeff_Piotrowski and I were separated as the northern eyewall moved in near Parker.

Wow, this is much worse than I expected. I thought this was supposed to be a little bitty storm when it hit. But I'm down with the Derp State geoengineering it to hammer a conservative part of the state. That seems nice.

As I was finishing up the installation/arrangement of the NCDP booth at the State Fair, a lady came up to us and said the Fair is canceled for tomorrow due to Michael. They won't open until 10 am Friday. That's good news for me, I get an extra day to prepare and it won't reduce my pay. But I bet the vendors are pissed. They just lost a day of sales.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

And Donald heads to Erie, PA for a campaign rally. That's really a great idea for a split screen tonight. Ron DeSantis didn't stop running negative ads against Talahassee mayor Andrew Gillum. Smells like panic. And goes without saying that it's disgraceful to be doing this when literally people are running for their lives. 27 days until the midterms when America can let the GOP and Donald know what we think.

Of course, Donald claimed he had to go to Erie because it would be unfair to disappoint the thousands of people waiting in line outside overnight. Problem is (or should be), the media observed that there was no one waiting outside last night, or indeed, at 11 this morning. Could it be that Donald's not being straight with us?
