A special election was needed for the Illinois 2nd congressional district seat formerly held by Jesse Jackson Jr.Former state Rep. Robin Kelly easily won the special Democratic primary Tuesday night in the race to replace the disgraced Jesse Jackson Jr. in Congress, helped by millions of dollars in pro-gun control ads from New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's political fund.A snowstorm and lack of voter interest kept turnout low as Kelly had 52 percent to 25 percent for former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson and 11 percent for Chicago 9th Ward Ald. Anthony Beale with 99 percent of precincts counted.Kelly will formally take on the winner of the Republican primary in an April 9 special general election in the heavily Democratic district. In the GOP contest, less than 25 votes separated convicted felon Paul McKinley and businessman Eric Wallace.[/break1]chicagotribune.com/news/politics/clout/chi-2nd-congressional-district-jackson-20130226,0,4718425.story]http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/poli ... 8425.story http://i1143.photobucket.com/albums/n63 ... jpgCalling the Illinois 2nd congressional district a "heavily Democratic district" got a chuckle from me.

Kelly is who NY Mayor Bloomberg's PAC spent their money on. Halvorson was prolly the favorite, until Bloomberg blanketed the airwaves with ads touting her excellent rating with the NRA.Bloomberg sez:"This is an important victory for common sense leadership on gun violence, a problem that plagues the whole nation. And it's the latest sign that voters across the country are demanding change from their representatives in Washington -- not business as usual. As Congress considers the President's gun package, voters in Illinois have sent a clear message: we need common sense gun legislation now. Now it's up to Washington to act."

[/break1]com/archives/2013/02/28/republicans_pick_convicted_felon_to_run_for_jacksons_seat.html]http://politicalwire.com/archives/2013/ ... _seat.htmlThank you morons! Only Republicans could do this. They had one clear advantage going into this, which was that they were replacing a disgraced criminal. So they pick a violent criminal to replace him.

Great job! Obviously a sacrificial lamb, but this one was, at least conceivably, a possible win for them in what was otherwise a safe seat.

Democratic congressional candidate Robin Kelly gets a high profile endorsement.Democrat Robin Kelly picked up a high-profile, but largely inconsequential, endorsement Tuesday from President Barack Obama.Kelly is all but assured to win her special-election bid to replace former Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr., D-Ill., on April 9. This is a heavily Democratic district, and her GOP opponent, Paul McKinley, is a convicted felon.“To continue moving America forward, I need partners in the House of Representatives like Robin Kelly,” Obama said in a press release from the Kelly campaign. “I have known Robin for many years and I am confident she is the perfect choice to represent the Illinois 2nd Congressional District.”Obama’s Chicago home is only a few blocks from the 2nd District. The friendship between Kelly and Obama started when they served in the state legislature together.[/break1]rollcall.com/illinois-obama-endorses-robin-kelly-in-special-election-finally/]http://atr.rollcall.com/illinois-obama- ... n-finally/

Marooni will be on this clear case of VOTER FRAUD!!!! She's got another screed up at the Pest and Efail, no doubt this election was closely monitored by her "organization". :lol:During the month of April, we invite you to participate in testing our ground breaking Hand Held Audit. The Hand Held Audit allows Illinois voters, election judges, and pollwatchers to assess and report on their election experiences at the polling place. These forms are web-based so all that is required is an internet connection. They can also be submitted on paper. In April 2013, our election judge forms are set up to assess polling place security in Suburban Cook County, Chicago, and McHenry County. In the future, we are planning to build forms specific for every election jurisdiction in Illinois. This is an ambitious goal, but we believe we have found a way to achieve it and that is why we need your help!

Mr. Gutierrez asked unanimous consent that Representative-elect Robin Kelly be permitted to take the oath of office on April 11, 2013. Mr. Gutierrez stated that the certificate of election had not arrived, but there was no contest and no question was raised with regard to the election. Agreed to without objection.

OATH OF OFFICE - Representative-Elect Robin Kelly, Second District, State of Illinois, presented herself in the well of the House for the purpose of taking the Oath of Office which was administered by the Speaker of the House [yep, the orange one hisself].

The House received a message from the Clerk. The Clerk transmitted to the House a scanned copy of a letter received from Mr. Rupert T. Borgsmiller, Executive Director, Illinois State Board of Elections, indicating that, according to the unofficial returns of the Special Election held April 9, 2013, the Honorable Robin L. Kelly was elected Representative to Congress for the Second Congressional District, State of Illinois.
