Shots fired at capital barricade

Capitol Police opened fire at the north barricade of the Capitol complex, law enforcement sources tell ABC News. Two officers are said to be injured, one critically, the sources said. That officer has been transported to the hospital.

I wonder what is going on in the minds of people who do things like this. I mean, with the riot, I can chalk a lot of it up to crowd mentality and people getting sweeped up in that.. but what in the world does someone picture happening the involves driving your piddling little car into a concrete barrier?

From the pictures in the other thread it appears to be a "pop-up" barrier, likely deployed when the vehicle ran a checkpoint, not a concrete one.

Yep, reading a little, looks like they do indeed go up and down so some kind of pop-up so they can let vehicles through without needing a forklift. It sounds like it was up though, so they still rammed a heavy object.

As bits come out though, it kinda sounds like they were trying to ram the officers, so I guess that is what they were thinking.

As for the pop-up barrier. They have one of those at the loading dock at union station near where I work. They leave it up all the time. They lowered to let cars to them pop it back up again
