Couple that shot an antifa get a mistrial.

https://t.co/Uki0hRBxqk

Putting it here since pretrial stuff was posted here. And arguably shooting people you disagree with is terroristic.

‘Shoot every federal agent in sight’: Teen behind online threat had 10,000 rounds of ammo in house, feds say
In an online forum, he went by the name “ArmyOfChrist” and praised the Oklahoma City bombing, mass shootings and attacks on Planned Parenthood, the FBI says. When the deadly siege in Waco, Tex., came up, he allegedly offered one lesson: “Shoot every federal agent on sight.”

“Don’t comply with gun laws, stock up on stuff they could ban,” he allegedly wrote in another post. “In fact, go out of your way to break these laws.”

The comments were all written by an Ohio teenager named Justin Olsen, the FBI says in federal court documents. And when agents raided a home where the 18-year-old lived earlier this month, they found about 10,000 rounds of ammunition and a vault full of assault-type weapons and shotguns.

Proud Boy Leaders Tell Troops to Tone Down Threats of Violence in Portland After FBI Visit
Florida based Proud Boy leaders Joe Biggs, a former host of the far-Right conspiracy platform, InfoWars, as well as the group’s National Chairman, Enrique Tarrio, who attended the neo-Nazi Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville and also serves as the Director of Latinos for Trump in Florida, are instructing their troops to “tone down” their violent rhetoric and calls for outright murder on social media.

Ironically the Proud Boys, who claim that they will be joined in Portland by groups such as the far-Right militia, the Three Percenters, which are tied to multiple bombings, as well as the American Guard, which was founded by a violent neo-Nazi skinhead, say that they are rallying to demand that “ANTIFA” be labeled a domestic terrorist group. The Proud Boys, who often brand themselves as “Libertarians,” also say they are rallying to support a proposed ban promoted by the Portland police, on people wearing masks at demonstrations. As many have noted, far-Right rally goers often wear masks at demonstrations, generally in much higher numbers than the hundreds of antifascist and antiracist counter-demonstrators who generally out number them.
:snippity:
Other members of Patriot Prayer such as Russel Schultz, a former Proud Boy, long known for his violent threats on Facebook, have also made threats of violence in relation to the August 17th event. On July 11th, Schultz posted a meme stating that those on the far-Right were going to murder enough people on August 17th to “raise the body count” beyond those killed in the Las Vegas shooting, which Schultz considers an attack against “conservatives,” despite the shooting being carried out by a Trump supporter. Russel has also stated on social media that he plans to infiltrate the antifascist protest on August 17th.

ABC News
'No Blame?' ABC News finds 36 cases invoking 'Trump' in connection with violence, threats, alleged assaults.

President Donald Trump has repeatedly refused to accept any responsibility for inciting violence in American communities, dismissing critics who have pointed to his rhetoric as a potential source of inspiration for some citizens acting on even long-held beliefs of bigotry and hate.

"I think my rhetoric brings people together," he said last week, four days after a 21-year-old allegedly posted an anti-immigrant screed online and then allegedly opened fire at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, killing 22 and injuring dozens of others.

But a nationwide review conducted by ABC News has identified at least 36 criminal cases where Trump was invoked in direct connection with violent acts, threats of violence or allegations of assault.

In nine cases, perpetrators hailed Trump in the midst or immediate aftermath of physically attacking innocent victims. In another 10 cases, perpetrators cheered or defended Trump while taunting or threatening others. And in another 10 cases, Trump and his rhetoric were cited in court to explain a defendant's violent or threatening behavior.

GOP Sen. Martha McSally drafts bill making domestic terrorism a federal crime
Sen. Martha McSally is seeking to make domestic terrorism a distinct federal crime, the latest sign that Republicans are increasingly serious about crafting a legislative response to recent mass shootings in Texas, Ohio and California.

The Arizona Republican is aiming to close a loophole in the law that prevents federal authorities from specifically punishing domestic terrorism, according to a discussion draft circulated to other offices. McSally, an Air Force veteran, said in releasing the draft that “domestic terrorism is in our backyard and we need to call it and treat it under the law the same as other forms of terrorism.” Authorities frequently charge domestic terrorism suspects with other offenses.

“For too long we have allowed those who commit heinous acts of domestic terrorism to be charged with related crimes that don’t portray the full scope of their hateful actions,” she said. “That stops with my bill. The bill I am introducing will give federal law enforcement the tools they have asked for so that they can punish criminals to the fullest extent of the law.”

The bill is likely to garner significant co-sponsors in the coming days, according to an aide familiar with the effort. The draft bill would criminalize politically motivated violence, recognize victims of terrorism and allow federal authorities to charge suspects with acts of domestic terrorism.

Two for one here—they can appear to do something to deter white terrorist violence AND they can build an apparatus which will serve to criminalize any kind of dissent, if desired. Just wait until Ted Cruz or ICE gets to finger "domestic terrorists." Add Andrew Cuomo's "mental health database"—it's like HIPPA meets Equifax!—and the State can get in on terrorizing the most vulnerable as well.
How deep could the Deep State go if the Deep State could go deep?

Devices that caused New York subway station evacuation deemed safe - live updates

Two pressure cookers that prompted an evacuation at a New York subway station Friday morning were determined to not be explosive, police said. The New York Police Department's counterterrorism bureau said on Twitter that the pressure cookers found at the Fulton Street station were deemed safe. ...

The police department confirmed to CBS News that another pressure cooker was being investigated in a different part of Manhattan. That pressure cooker was found near the intersection of West 16th Street and Seventh Avenue.

Transit officials rerouted the No. 2 and 3 subway lines to avoid the Fulton Street station, causing delays during the morning commute. The lines connect lower Manhattan to Brooklyn and run under the East River.

This is a developing story and will be updated.

White Supremacists Want a Dirty Bomb
And the Trump administration is letting them get dangerously close to acquiring one.

https://foreignpolicy.com/2019/08/16/wh ... Picks%20OC

And Rick Perry is in charge of protecting us. :torches:
While the United States has been focused on the trafficking of nuclear and radiological materials abroad, experts at the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) have argued that the threat of dangerous radiological materials being used in America’s own backyard is “just as serious.”

With a wide variety of civilian uses, including in the medical, industrial, and research fields, radiological materials rated by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as Category 1 threats—such as cesium-137, cobalt-60, and strontium-90—are left relatively unguarded. These materials could be used to contaminate a major U.S. city with devastating consequences.
:snippity:
This is the third time this year that the Energy Department has drawn outrage for mishandling nuclear waste. In June, the department decided to reclassify high-level nuclear weapons waste to a lower category. Paul Dabbar, the undersecretary for science, said the decision was made to allow for faster cleanup of contaminated areas and to cut back costs.

According to the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), the reclassification would allow the Energy Department to abandon storage tanks of more than 100 million gallons of some of the “most toxic and radioactive waste in the world” across three states at low ground levels. The byproduct of the production of nuclear weapons is a dangerous cocktail of IAEA Category 1 radiological materials, including strontium-90, americium-241, and plutonium-238. “The Trump administration is attempting to alter five decades of national consensus on handling the most toxic waste in the world,” said Geoffrey Fettus, a senior attorney for the NRDC.
The article includes reports on white supremacists who possessed or were attempting to access radiological materials.

House GOP’s Reported Talking Points For Shootings: Note ‘Violence From The Left’
Talking points shared by a Florida Republican Thursday recommend that, when asked that question, lawmakers pivot toward blaming the left.

In an email to constituents reported by the Tampa Bay Times, Rep. Gus Bilirakis (R-FL, pictured above) included a series of talking points that his spokesperson told the paper were “provided by the House Republican Conference.”

If asked, “Do you believe white nationalism is driving more mass shootings recently?” the talking points falsely respond that the El Paso shooter and the man who shot Congresswoman Gaby Giffords were politically “from the left.”

“White nationalism and racism are pure evil and cannot be tolerated in any form,” the talking points included in the email said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “We also can’t excuse violence from the left such as the El Paso shooter, the recent Colorado shooters, the Congressional baseball shooter, Congresswoman Giffords’ shooter and Antifa.”

This report is a little different, found unconscious in the Bronx.
CNN: The man seen placing rice cookers around downtown New York is in custody, police say

CNN)The man who police say is seen on video dropping off rice cookers Friday in downtown New York was taken into custody early Saturday morning, a law enforcement source with knowledge of the investigation said.

Three rice cookers, initially described as suspicious devices, were discovered Friday morning in Manhattan, prompting a brief scare and causing delays during the busy morning subway commute. All the devices were ultimately deemed safe.

The man was found unconscious around 2 a.m. ET at an address in the Bronx and is hospitalized, the source said. He was taken into custody on a previous bench warrant unrelated to Friday's incident and has not been charged in connection with the rice cookers, the source said.

The "individual has been located and the investigation continues," NYPD Chief of Detectives Dermot Shea tweeted Saturday morning.

Defendant charged in Bloomington mosque bombing challenges hate-crime law as unconstitutional
This is about the White Rabbit Militia dudes who firebombed a mosque in Minnesota.
:snippity:
Reynaldo Aligada Jr. and Shannon Elkins initiated the challenge in pretrial filings last month when they argued that four of the five federal charges against their client, Michael Hari, should be dismissed.

The crux of their argument was that Congress exceeded its authority under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution when it passed and modified laws that make it a federal crime to damage real property because of the religious nature of that property, or to forcibly obstruct the free exercise of religion.

Two other charges — conspiracy to commit federal felonies with fire or explosives, and carrying or using a destructive device related to crimes of violence — also should be dropped, Hari’s attorneys argue, because those alleged crimes are predicated on the statutes that they contend are unconstitutional.

Minnesota Public Radio reported that Aligada had argued in court Monday that Congress overstepped its authority under the Constitution when it passed laws that make the alleged conduct federal crimes. Such authority resides only with state or local jurisdictions, Aligada and Elkins argued in court filings. They said that damaging religious property and making threats have no impact on interstate commerce, so Congress had no business writing laws against such activities.

“Thus, should the federal government wish to regulate such activity under the auspices of its Commerce Clause authority, it is incumbent upon Congress to demonstrate a sufficient linkage with interstate commerce,” Aligada and Elkins wrote.
Too, also: A few days ago, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz announced the appointment of Reynaldo Aligada as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. Mr. Aligada is currently the First Assistant Federal Defender at the Office of the Federal Defender in Minneapolis.

‘I Thank God Everyday Donald John Trump Is President’: FBI Arrests Neo-Nazi for Allegedly Threatening Hispanic Women

A Maryland man was jailed in Washington state after authorities from the Federal Bureau of Investigation said he threatened several Hispanic women in the Miami area.

Eric Lin, 35, was arrested on Friday in Seattle and charged with the federal crime of interstate transmission of a threatening communication, according to the DOJ.

According to the authorities, Lin began sending messages on Facebook to a Hispanic woman whom he knew in which he threatened her and her family. In the messages Lin also reportedly stated his support for Adolf Hitler and also called for the elimination of all Spanish speaking people as well as other ethnic groups.

Lin’s arrest came after he had already begun planning to wire a man $10,000 to beat up the Hispanic woman, plotted to kidnap her and keep her captive inside a plastic bin, and vowed to kill the entire Hispanic population of Magic City, according to a report in The Miami New Times.

“The time will come when Miami will burn to the ground — and every Latin Man will be lined up against a Wall and Shot and every Latin Woman Raped or Cut to Pieces,” Lin allegedly wrote on August 8.

Man arrested for terrorism after sending threatening email to ABC Nashville affiliate

https://abcnews.go.com/US/man-arrested- ... d=65144118
A man has been arrested after allegedly sending a rambling email to one of ABC News' affiliate stations in Tennessee, threatening to go to the "state capital to blow someone's brains out."

ABC Nashville affiliate WKRN-TV received a threatening email on Wednesday, authorities said, allegedly from Nathan Semans, who also expressed his displeasure toward President Donald Trump.

“Look if you don’t run story I’m going to state capital to blow someone’s brain out," the email read. "I don’t look good at the moment cause the tyranny of what trump did, the nature of this call is secret. You think I’m kidding trump belongs in the dumpster from a cool kid.

"Knock it off I’m human. I’ll immediately leave this country on a double once my passport clears," the email continued. "I’m sick of this nonsense and bologna hanging around that trumps the perfect American, hallelujah against trump I recommend you forward to the table of the news room or I join ISIS to seek revenge.”

Two NYC women plead guilty to plan to build bomb for attack on U.S.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Two women inspired by radical Islam pleaded guilty in New York City on Friday to teaching and distributing information about the manufacture and use of an explosive, destructive device and weapon of mass destruction, federal prosecutors said.

Asia Siddiqui and Noelle Velentzas, both U.S. citizens in their 30s from the borough of Queens, face up to 20 years in prison when they are sentenced.

U.S. Attorney Richard Donoghue said in a statement the defendants studied some of the most deadly attacks in U.S. history as a blueprint for their plans to kill American law enforcement and military personnel.

Prosecutors said Velentzas and Siddiqui taught each other chemistry and electrical skills, conducted research on how to make plastic explosives and a car bomb, and bought materials to be used in an explosive device.

2 men accused of threatening to ‘shoot up’ Las Vegas nightclub

https://www.reviewjournal.com/crime/cou ... b-1833497/
Johnny Young, 22, and Braxton Ryback, 25, were arrested Aug. 10 and charged with one count each of making false threats in an act of terrorism after the two were removed from XS Nightclub at Encore. They are accused of yelling “white privilege, white power, we are white supremacists,” and threatening to “shoot up the place,” according to an arrest report from the Metropolitan Police Department.

Security told police they removed the men just after midnight because they were holding their fists in the air in a threatening manner and shouting white supremacist remarks at clubgoers. The two vowed to “come back and shoot up the place” while referencing pepper spray and guns, the report said.

Young returned to Encore around 6:45 a.m. carrying pepper spray and was arrested. He told officers he had a gun in his car, which was parked at Wynn Las Vegas.

Ryback refused to speak to police. Young told police he was “drunk and angry,” but that Ryback made the threats, “because he is into that.”
