Seal Team 6 Members given "Non-judicial Punishment (Captian's Mast/Article 15 UCMJ etc) at the Field Grade (Issuing Commander in the pay grade of 0-4 - Major, Lt Commander...) - If you want an explanation of NJP, please give me a PM.

[/break1]caaflog.com/]“SEAL Team 6″ Members Disciplined for Leaks to Video Game Maker

By Mike "No Man" Navarre, November 9, 2012

From CBS News, here: [/break1]cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-57547417/7-navy-seals-disciplined-for-role-with-video-game/]http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-18563_162-5 ... ideo-game/

(CBS News) The U.S. Navy SEALs are part of an elite force that operates in the shadows, best known for killing Osama bin Laden. However, CBS News has learned a group of SEALs has been disciplined for revealing secrets.

The seven members of SEAL Team Six are all still on active duty. One of them was on the raid which killed Osama bin Laden and made SEAL Team Six a household name. For two days this spring and summer, they worked as paid consultants on a recently released video game, "Medal of Honor: Warfighter."

Four other members of the team who have since transferred out of the unit but are still on active duty are under investigation.

The game does not recreate the bin Laden raid, but it does portray realistic missions, such as an attack on a pirates' den in Somalia. It was...

Since the half assed book came out written by a former Seal (on my investigation, IMHO it appears that he separated from the service due to "bad blood" between him and command - a fairly common reason for quitting.)...The DOD has been cracking down on the flow of classified material, methods, sites, plans, How to assault some place, and other trade secrets our folks don't like to talk about or let out.

These folks disobeyed a lawful order to not discuss this crap without command permission. In this case is is not easier to get forgiveness than permission.

The Pentagon has lost it's sense of humor over the willful disclosure of classified information including For Official Use Only material. That book on the raid was the straw that broke the camel's back. Since it was already published (along with trying to suppress the book due to the extreme bad publicity that it would garner during the run up to the election), this is just trying to close the barn door after the horses have left.

This incident heightens the visibility of SEALS selling secrets for money (they got paid for the video game...didn't get command permission to even chat with the game maker).

With the Bradley Manning leak etc......

Cross Poasted from Hijack this thread. http://www.thefogbow.com/forum/viewtopi ... 441607From our friend, Mr. Phil Cave, Esq [/break1]thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/11/04/daniel-klaidman-the-seals-biggest-threat.html]Seals Have a Hard Time Turning Down Money From the Enterainment Industry.Long after the sun had dipped behind the high peaks of the Hindu Kush, on a moonless night four Navy SEALs fast-roped down from a Chinook helicopter onto an isolated ridge. It was June 27, 2005, and the elite team of American warriors was on a kill or capture mission—code-named Operation Red Wings—in the heart of Taliban country. Their target was a tribal fighter named Ahmad Shah, whose attacks had taken a high toll on U.S. Marines in the area. The SEAL team moved stealthily through the night across an unforgiving terrain of dense brush and rocks toward their predetermined observation point. But early the next morning they were discovered by a group of local goatherds. Lt. Michael Murphy, the SEALs’ leader, faced a dilemma: let them go and compromise his team’s position or kill them, a potential war crime. With buy-in from his men, Murphy released the Afghans.Within an hour, the SEALs were ambushed by as many as 40 heavily armed Taliban. An intense firefight erupted. The badly outgunned SEALs were forced to retreat into a ravine for cover. Murphy and his men, suffering grievous wounds, were pinned down against the steep mountainside. Exposing himself to near-certain death, Murphy fought his way back into an open area so he could get enough signal to radio for backup. He immediately took a round in the back and fell to the ground, dropping his phone. He got back up and completed the call, successfully providing his team’s location and requesting support. When an MH-47 helicopter arrived to try to rescue the SEALs, the Taliban were lying in wait. Struck by a rocket-propelled grenade, the bird went down, killing all on board—eight Navy SEALs and eight Army Night Stalkers. By then, Murphy and two of the three other SEALs from his team were dead. But Petty Officer Marcus Luttrell survived, living off berries, stream water, and his wits for seven days before being found by friendly Afghans and carried to safety. In 2007, Murph, as he was known, was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for attempting to save the lives of his brother SEALs at the cost of...

Ahhhh, and the Navy reports in...[/break1]thedaily.com/page/2012/08/15/081512-news-navy-commanders-1-4/]This year's latest Navy booze and sex scandal. The Navy is on track to fire a record number of commanders this year for bad behavior, The Daily has learned.Already this year, 13 commanders have been axed, six for misbehaving. No. 13, nuclear submarine Cmdr. Michael Ward, got his walking papers Sunday, for what the Navy described as “allegations of personal misconduct.”Ward is accused of getting a woman pregnant, then ditching her by having a buddy tell her he died in combat. Right now, he hasn’t been found guilty of anything, but he’s still out as top officer of the USS Pittsburgh, a nuclear-powered, fast-attack submarine based in Groton, Conn.It was a port call in the Seychelles Islands on New Year’s Eve that did in Cmdr. Jay Wylie. He was drunk and horny, and the junior officer was pretty. He slid his hand up her dress and into her underwear.Apparently, they didn't learn all that much from the Tailhook Scandal. What used to pass for normal behavior for Navy folks (drunk, sloppy, stupid and horny) is not being accepted these days. Officers used to brag about bagging whomever while being married as a sign of a "big man". Now ... not so much.

[/break1]latimes.com/2012/aug/10/nation/la-na-nn-air-force-sex-scandal-lackland-20120810]Base Commander Relieved in USAF Basic Training Instructor Sex Scandal.

HOUSTON -- A sex scandal at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas has led to the dismissal of the top commander overseeing basic training for every new American airman, officials said Friday.

Col. Glenn Palmer was commander of basic training for the 737th Training Group at the base near San Antonio, where more than a dozen military instructors in the last year have been charged with or investigated on suspicion of sexually assaulting recruits.

On Friday, officials confirmed reports by the Associated Press that Palmer had been relieved of duty by Col. Eric Axelbank, commander of the 37th training wing at Lackland.

“Col. Palmer was relieved because Col. Eric Axelbank lost confidence in his ability to maintain a safe and secure training environment for our newest airmen,” Collen McGee, spokeswoman for the 37th Training Wing, told the Los Angeles Times. Axelbank decided that, for the 737th group, “a new leader is required to meet the current needs,” she said.[/break1]csmonitor.com/USA/Military/2012/0921/Rocked-by-sex-scandal-Air-Force-installs-woman-commander-for-basic-training]Air Force Looking Toward New Base Commander to clean up Sex Scandal Mess.

A woman takes command of the Air Force’s basic training program Friday, a nod to the pervasive problem of sexual assault on the base where dozens of female recruits say they were preyed upon by their instructors...

It is a figure that has continued to grow and now stands at 39 potential victims, as more women – and some female instructors – have come forward to report assaults at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. ...

The cases have had some notable setbacks. In June, Staff Sgt. Peter Vega-Maldonado struck a plea deal after he admitted to having sex with a female trainee. He received 90 days’ confinement after agreeing to testify against his fellow instructors, for which he received immunity.

It was only then that he admitted to having sex with a total of 10 trainees, a source of grave embarrassment for Air Force officials. Consequently, Vega-Maldonado will be discharged from the service after he is released from jail, senior Air Force officials say. He will not be charged in any of the other cases, they add.

Almost forgot about our Air Force....When I was in basic training at Lackland in '77 they warned us sternly and repeatedly about the Iranian soldiers assigned to the base and told us horror stories of their attitudes towards women and their proclivity for sexual assaults because women weren't "equal" to men. For some period of time they were supposedly confined to specific areas of the base in order to protect the US women in basic. At least that's what we were told. Meanwhile, our TI had just married a recruit he met when she was assigned to his Flight during the previous class. They were married as soon as she graduated basic and was pregnant by the time we graduated.

William Ward, Four Star General, Demoted For Lavish Spending, Ordered To Repay $82,000

WASHINGTON — Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has demoted the former head of U.S. Africa Command who was accused of spending thousands of dollars on lavish travel and other unauthorized expenses, a senior U.S. official said Tuesday.

Panetta stripped Gen. William "Kip" Ward of a star, which means that he will now retire as a three-star lieutenant general despite arguments from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff against the demotion. Ward also has been ordered also repay the government $82,000.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the person wasn't authorized to discuss a personnel matter.

The demotion comes as retired Army Gen. David Petraeus resigned as CIA director because of an extramarital affair and Marine Gen. John Allen is being investigated for improper communications with a woman.

According to the official, Panetta reviewed the Ward matter and concluded that the wrongdoing found by the Defense Department Inspector General, in a report released earlier this year, demanded accountability.

The highest military appellate court ordered on Monday the removal of the judge overseeing the trial of Nidal Hasan, an Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people at the Fort Hood Army base in 2009.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces wrote in an opinion that Col. Gregory Gross should be removed for the appearance of bias -- in part because he demanded that Hasan's beard be shaved.

“The command, and not the military judge, has the primary responsibility for the enforcement of grooming standards,” the court wrote in a 10-page opinion. “A military judge’s contempt authority is directed toward control of the courtroom. Although the military judge here stated that (Hasan’s) beard was a ‘disruption,’ there was insufficient evidence on this record to demonstration that (his) beard materially interfered with the proceedings.”

Further, the opinion stated, the judge and his family were present at Fort Hood on the day ofKinda strange as the last full Colonel I worked for thought she sat on the right hand of God.

That's very good news to me, even though it's a shame the young man has to put his career on the line.He wasn't going to have much of a career if what he claims is true. His promotions and assignments would depend on his participation in the religious indoctrination efforts. He would be forced out one way or another. It's better for him to choose another path while he's young. Let's see if he gets any support from his peers or from anyone who has any power to do anything if he makes his case.

Retired Va. Beach sailor charged with espionage

NORFOLK — — A retired Navy sailor from Virginia Beach has been charged with attempted espionage, federal authorities announced Thursday.

Robert Patrick Hoffman II, 39, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., allegedly attempted to pass classified information to the Russian Federation that pertained to tracking U.S. submarines, according to a federal indictment.

However, Hoffman delivered the information to an undercover FBI agent, the indictment alleges.

Hoffman served in the Navy for 20 years and achieved the rank of Petty Officer First Class. He was trained as a cryptologic technician and retired from the Navy in November 2011. While serving, he held a top secret security clearance. ...

He was arrested Thursday morning without incident. The charges were announced by U.S. Attorney Neil MacBride. The investigation also involved the FBI's Norfolk field office and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS).

Old shipmates at the FB page for NavSecGru are of course talking about this. At least one admits to having deployed with him out of Pearl, said he was a dipshit. Of course this brings up other shitbirds that got caught spying or trying to spy...the remarks about these folks, as you may imagine, are not exactly complimentary.I never met Hoffman. He enlisted about 8 years after my EAOS.
Edit: Edit to add a photo of Hoffman from one of the NSG sites -- he's real spy-stuff, eh?

[/break1]duffelblog.com/2012/12/bradley-manning-charges-dropped-soldier-exploits-loophole-in-ucmj/]PFC Bradley Manning Beats The Rap Exploiting UCMJ Loophole...To be freedFORT MEADE, MD – Private First Class Bradley Manning will go free after all charges against him were dropped in a stunning outcome which has shocked experts and brought an abrupt close to one of the greatest espionage trials in U.S. history. In a series of legal maneuvers which left the prosecutor speechless with rage, PFC Manning not only had all 22 charges dropped, but his intelligence clearance was also reinstated. Manning will also be meritoriously promoted to Sergeant, and receive a $500,000 settlement from the US government.Manning had confounded prosecutors with a series of brilliant tactics that relentlessly delayed his trial, and redirected accusations back against the U.S. government. When accused of leaking over 250,000 classified documents to a foreign national, Manning coolly rebutted that his actions were in protest against Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. When told that his behavior in Iraq was illegal, Manning retorted that it was no more illegal than the American invasion. At one point Manning began emulating Major Nidal Hasan and grew a beard. The final straw, according to observers, was when Manning married his cellmate and sued for federal benefits and Basic Allowance for Housing. Citing ‘institutionalized bigotry’, Manning’s lawyer repeatedly filed dozens of appeals, demanding an audience with the Supreme Court and the President of the United States. Exasperated at the tremendous waste of the court’s time, the presiding judge finally threw in the towel and let the clever soldier go.TOTH to our own Phil Cave - Military Lawyer Extraordinaire.
