From what I 've read in the news reports, Judge Berman was in fine form today and sliced and diced and thoroughly shredded Stone and his crack, and by that I mean on, legal team. Nothing quite says yowza incompetent like a supposed high priced experienced defense attorney telling a judge she should be bound by a losing USSC dissent. I kind of thought that was just really really eggstrah speshul if ya know what I mean. Kind of the highlight actually of the article. Although pretty much the hallmark of Stone's whole defense. The other bad hallmark is that it isn't that he isn't guilty it's that they can't LEGALLY prosecute him for reasons since the laws don't exist or don't apply to him yada yada yada, and his lawyers don't seem to able to elucidate that either for some reason. Fun and games. Fun and games. :popcorn:

WaPo: Roger Stone aide Andrew Miller testifies before grand jury in Mueller probe spinoff:
Andrew Miller, a former aide to Roger Stone, testified for two hours Friday before a federal grand jury and told reporters afterward that he was asked about Stone’s schedule and movements at the 2016 Republican National Convention, and that he knew of no relationship between Stone and WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Miller, 34, said he also agreed to search for and turn over documents regarding Stone’s convention schedule by next week. He said he expects that handover to end his involvement in an investigation launched during special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference in the 2016 election.

“The questioning dealt with Mr. Miller’s relationship with Roger Stone, and what does he know about Julian Assange and WikiLeaks and so forth. He answered those questions, and basically, Mr. Miller doesn’t have any knowledge about what Roger Stone knew about WikiLeaks and Julian Assange,” Miller attorney Paul D. Kamenar said to reporters with his client outside the federal courthouse in Washington.

* * *

Grand jurors continue to hear testimony in ongoing matters related to Mueller’s now-concluded investigation and a number of cases charged in the probe — including Stone’s — have been handed off to local federal prosecutors, including in Washington. Assange has been indicted in Alexandria on federal espionage and conspiracy charges, although not in connection with WikiLeaks’ alleged role in the public release of Democratic Party emails hacked by Russian operatives in 2016.

Miller’s attorney declined to speculate if prosecutors were looking to bring new charges against Stone, Assange or anyone else, but said Miller was asked about his knowledge of both men, as well as of New York radio host Randy Credico, and conservative political commentator Jerome Corsi, other figures who dealt with Stone regarding the email leaks.

“It’s difficult to say where they’re going with this. It’s a matter of them completing their questioning, which they would have asked a year ago. It didn’t seem like there was anything really new along those lines,” Kamenar said, adding he believed the inquiries were moot since the special counsel’s investigation reported that it did not find establish that anyone in the Trump campaign conspired with Russia in its interference effort.

* * *

Miller helped get Stone into media events, with his email, and forwarded emails sent to one of Stone’s websites to Stone, Kamenar said. Miller has had nothing to do with Stone since the election and has not communicated with him, Kamenar said. Miller moved to St. Louis last year around the time he was subpoenaed last year, and runs a paint contracting and home warranty business, Kamenar said.

Miller launched an unsuccessful legal effort to declare Mueller’s appointment invalid, arguing that under the constitution Mueller should have been confirmed by the Senate, a view rejected by the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.

Kamenar said in battling the subpoena Miller was not trying to be unaccommodating to investigators. Miller said he was motivated by his libertarian views and opposed being summoned to travel across the country on “a whim,” as Miller said outside the courthouse.

While Stone's attorney's appear to be third stringers, defendant Stone's worst enemy is publicity-whore Stone.

I sure hope these legal klowns are charging Stone a fortune.

Entirely too true as to Stone. Keep talking Roger, keep talking. As to his attorneys, what you should have said was that they had best have gotten it up front as he is otherwise too much like his current bestest hero. I still want to know how he's paying for anything at this point.

Agree!

POLITICO has an excellent round up, here's a sample:
Prosecutors indicated they obtained their first search warrant against Stone in August 2017, more than a year before his indictment and they obtained another 17 through February 2019. Of those, 12 were signed off on by Washington’s federal district court chief judge Beryl Howell, three others were approved by other D.C.-based judges, and three more were backed by judges in New York and Florida.

Fourteen of the search warrants requests indicate that Stone was in touch with hackers — known by the moniker Guccifer 2.0 — and that Guccifer 2.0 ultimately claimed responsibility for the DNC hacks. And they also indicated that WikiLeaks disseminated the hacked emails, and that Stone communicated with WikiLeaks.

"Each affidavit submits that, based on those communications, there was probable cause to believe that evidence related to the DNC hack would be found in the specified location," they wrote. "Many of these affidavits contain additional evidence alleging probable cause to believe evidence will be found of violations of additional crimes."

Prosecutors also said they had probable cause Stone may have committed other crimes: accessory after the fact, misprision of a felony, conspiracy, wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud and foreign contribution bans.

Seriously can't believe he's posting about the case on social media. It's like GAB, most reporters haven't used this Parler thing yet. I signed up with my patriot account, I didn't find it easy to navigate (that wasn't the companies original purpose so idk if it's going to handle this kind of use). Wait till that comes back to kick Roger in the ass. Wonder if he's lawyers know he's doing this?

This was a nice combo of posts next to each other :towel:

NEW: Federal prosecutors allege in a new court filing that Roger Stone violated his gag order with recent social media posts about his criminal case. They’re asking the judge to schedule a hearing to review Stone’s conditions of release. He could end up in jail for this.

Someone needs to point Parler out to them, this is like GAB, reporters and people didn't see the open filthy sewer it was. When they did all hell broke loose. I expect Parler to have the same fate. Roger has been much worse on Parler.

Otherwise it's fashion, bitching and "echoing". Of course he promotes Jacob Engel from Orlando, truly a vile human being who's been banned all over. Jacob had a megaphone and was screaming at the peaceful Gillum supporters at the Broward FL DOE, I'll never forget or forgive him for that, it was disgusting. Here's the About Parler from their site:
Parler was founded in 2018 and based in Henderson, Nevada. Inspiration for the name came from the French verb that means ‘to speak’. After being exhausted with a lack of transparency in big tech, ideological censorship and privacy abuse, our co-founders John and Jared decided to create an alternative solution.

Parler provides a Commenting and Social News platform for digital publishers, influencers, bloggers, writers, politicians and social users to share news, opinions and content in real time. Additionally, we provide enterprise tools to enhance online blogs, media and websites with direct social integrations and monetization capabilities.

The goal is to offer the world a tool where everyone can be their own media outlet, filter their own content, and the established influencers and digital publishers can enhance their own brands and communities.
https://home.parler.com/about/

Here's the Wikipedia hit:
Like the several other "alt-media" outlets[2] founded after 2016, Parler seeks to differentiate itself from established social networks by permitting content deemed offensive elsewhere.[3] Consequently, according to Politico, much of its content belongs to that category, such as anti-Islam and anti-feminist messages.[3] Its activity is "devoted mostly to a small universe of Trump-friendly discussions."[3]

History
Parler was founded by CEO John Matze in 2018.[3][4] Its name is the French word for "to speak".[3] Its rollout in August 2018 was plagued by bugs that made it almost unusable initially.[1][2]

In December 2018 and 2019, the service gained notoriety and a spike in users after persons associated with Donald Trump began using it, including his re-election campaign manager Brad Parscale, Senator Mike Lee, and activist Candace Owens.[3] Matze had previously met with Parscale in early-May 2019.[4] Other notable users include persons banned from Twitter or other networks for offensive conduct, such as Anthony Cumia, Jacob Wohl, Laura Loomer, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson and Roger Stone.[2] Other "right-leaning social media figures" use Parler as a back-up in case they are banned from Twitter.[3]

According to Matze, as of May 2019, Parler had about 100,000 users.[3] Parler's user base more than doubled in June 2019 after around 200,000 nationalists from Saudi Arabia joined the website.[5]

Can't find it now, but I recall reading that originally, Parler was a way for publishers to make up some of their lost revenue from the news feed algorithm changes at Facebook (they basically downgraded news to focus on user's friends and likes). That didn't work out and since the banned needed a place to spew guess they thought they'd take the money. I bet they'll regret that.

The Hill: Judge orders Roger Stone to file rebuttal to allegation he violated gag order:
A federal judge Friday ordered President Trump's associate Roger Stone to file a rebuttal to prosecutors’ claim he violated a gag order with his social media posts.

Judge Amy Berman Jackson ordered the rebuttal to be filed by June 27 over several Instagram posts made by Stone in which he screenshotted articles about a court document filed in his case last month.

The screenshots showed articles about a court filing in which the Justice Department said it did not have a full report from cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike, which revealed that Russians had hacked the Democratic National Committee (DNC). Stone had been seeking the full report ahead of his November trial.

Prosecutors said this week that the posts are “commenting about this case and inviting news organizations to cover the issue” and they are “a violation of the current conditions of release, and the government accordingly calls it to the court’s attention.”

They also asked Jackson to hold a hearing to “show cause why [Stone's] conditions of release should not be modified.”

WaPo: Roger Stone says Instagram posts critical of Mueller probe did not violate gag order:
Longtime Trump friend Roger Stone denied violating a court gag order, saying Thursday his recent social media posts highlighting conservative commentary attacking the FBI and Robert S. Mueller III’s special counsel probe were not his own statements, but First Amendment-protected criticism of major news outlets for not reporting them.

“The posts “are not ‘statements,’ nor do they pose a danger” to a fair trial, attorneys led by Bruce S. Rogow said in an 11-page filing, adding that the government’s request to find him in contempt was inappropriate and “disproportionate.”

The defense said, “The ‘prejudice’ to be concerned about is prejudice against Stone; his lonely voice presents no threat to a fair trial under this Court’s supervision,” his defense said, calling the government’s request “oxymoronic, outré, and out of First Amendment bounds.”

Stone’s attorney’s said the government motion “exhibits a willful blindness” to “tens of thousands” of print and broadcast news articles, cartoons, opinion pieces and satirical acts critical of Stone, citing among examples Steve Martin’s parody of the longtime GOP operative on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and “The Washington Post’s unrelenting coverage.”

* * *

Jackson indicated she could set a hearing or weigh further restrictions on his liberty depending on whether she found he was stoking pretrial publicity that could bias potential jurors.
Stone's response.

Methinks the "blame SNL" defense isn't going to fly.

Good morning from DC district court where Roger Stone is set to have a 10 am status hearing, the first since federal prosecutors earlier this spring alleged that Stone is in violation of a gag order restricting his speech about his case. I’ll be live tweeting the proceedings.

Judge Jackson had a number of Stone's posts that clearly violate her gag order(s). The Government puts in a milquetoast performance:

Hearing now in recess. Will Judge Jackson protect her own orders over and above the wishy-washy DOJ? Stay tuned.

Rogow in his reply says he'd like the judge to consider doing away with the gag order entirely, and Jackson says he's welcome to put something in writing, but "you’ve got a tough road to go there." She's recessing until 12:30pm.
Zoe's on it too. Note: in the thread above she discloses she was the BuzzFeed reporter he texted.

Well, for somebody like Stone, she did basically jail him since he loses his direct microphone. Before, it was all a matter of whether his social medial posts violated the gag order. Now, any post will violate the court order. There is no interpretation now.

He could have some friend attempt to post, but he could do that from jail. He could use fake accounts but his need to have people see him would not be fulfilled.
