I still think it needs to be delivered at 9:00 AM so that the networks can fact check it all before most of the rubes see it.

That was my guess too. Pelosi has won the first fight and it's best to bank that and mkve on. Arranging the SotU speech now has taken away Trump's option to whine that those nasty Democrats – losers! – are preventing him from delivering the speech because <insert lie du jour>.

For the Democrats, this is a pig-wrestling problem. Best to steer clear of the mud then let Pelosi slaughter the pig and smoke its bacon when she feels it's appropriate.

Madame Speaker, Mr. Vice President, members of Congress, my fellow Americans:

The State of the Nation is strong. We are open for the next ten days. If you need a passport or want to file your taxes, go to your grocery store, quick.

Thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.

From CNN -

Stacey Abrams to give Democratic response of the State of the Union
Former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams said Tuesday she has accepted an invitation to give the Democratic response to the State of the Union address.

Abrams has been talked about as a rising star in the Democratic Party. She gained a national following during her unsuccessful bid to become governor of Georgia last fall. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said Tuesday said he called Abrams three weeks ago to discuss the idea and that she has since accepted.

Abrams said on Tuesday that she is "honored" to give the Democratic response.

"At a moment when our nation needs to hear from leaders who can unite for a common purpose, I am honored to be delivering the Democratic State of the Union response," she tweeted.

The Democratic response will give Abrams a major platform to counter the President following his address to Congress and the nation — and the speech is sure to further elevate her national profile.

That's why there should be a time delay, so as to make bleeping out the extraneous material (lies) possible.

The first standoff was a big political win for Pelosi. If she waits till Feb 15 there's a high chance that we'll either be in another shutdown or having this bogus "emergency" declared. Pushing SOTU further and further back has diminishing returns,

There's also the opportunity for DOTUS to once again declare that he'll have to declare a National Emergency if he doesn't get what he wants--which will simply cement the fact that no matter how much he tantrums, building a wall is not a National Emergency that will hold up in court.

One of the funniest things that Donald seems not to know is that his 3 week deadline falls when Congress leaves. Hope he stays there by himself again! Please don't tell him!

Trump’s State of the Union to focus on ‘choosing greatness’

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump heads into his State of the Union address dogged by bruising midterm losses and sinking poll numbers, wounded by a blistering standoff with Democrats. But for the stately speech, he plans to embrace unity — at least for the night.

"Choosing Greatness” is the official White House theme.

Addressing the nation at the weakest point of his presidency, Trump will seek to use the ceremonial moment to pitch a unifying vision and reset relations with Democrats. The prime-time presidential set-piece Tuesday night comes amid a bitter border wall fight that nearly derailed the speech altogether, but Trump is not expected to dwell on the rancor.

“I really think it’s going to be a speech that’s going to cover a lot of territory, but part of it’s going to be unity,” Trump told reporters this week.

That would be unifying.

"Choosing Greatness" is a good theme but clearly has nothing to do with Donald. Is he going to be giving a tribute to Barack Obama? :P

I suspect that the 'Choosing Greatness' will rely on 'Making America Great Again' by focusing on building a wall as the biggest, greatest penis substitute ever.

Please DEMAND that your follower NOT watch Donald's speech, only Stacey Abrams' reply, so that like his Oval address, the rebuttal gets higher ratings. That really stings Donald. Will anybody even watch Donald? Help get the word out  Newsweek 1/29:
Donald Trump Approval Rating Average Lowest Since World War II
While President Donald Trump saw his approval rating plummet over the course of the government shutdown, Democrats experienced the opposite, reaching their highest level of popularity in nearly a decade, a new poll shows. Along those lines, Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi had the trust of more American voters than Trump.

Among American voters in a Quinnipiac University Poll released Tuesday, 38 percent approved of the way Democrats in Congress are handling their job, while 48 percent disapproved. Congressional Democrats’ approval rating was the highest since 38 percent approved and 50 percent disapproved in an early July 2009 survey by the university.

Republicans in Congress got a 30 percent job approval rating and a 65 percent disapproval rating, which was largely unchanged from surveys conducted recently.

Nearly half, 49 percent, of American voters said they trust Pelosi more than Trump “on issues that are important” to them, while only 42 percent said they trust Trump. Among independent voters, 49 percent trusted Pelosi more and 36 percent trusted Trump more.
***
"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi–one; President Donald Trump–zero,” Quinnipiac University Poll assistant director Tim Malloy stated in the survey report. “The first round of many to come in the heavyweight bout goes the Speaker's way as Trump takes the hit for the shutdown and his party is suffering along with him." :boxing:

Trump’s job approval rating matched that of congressional Democrats at 38 percent, while his disapproval rating was worse at 57 percent.

Wouldn’t shock me if Trump’s idea for calling for “unity” is simply “Unite in support of every one of my positions 100%.”

I think all of Trump's public remarks should be interspersed with 5 seconds of pictures of a projector at the end of every claim he makes about anyone else. One of his tells is when he repeats a claim several times, makes claims about someone else or adds one of his m reassuring ''believe me'', ''I keep hearing'' or ''people are saying''.
