I believe it's at the direction of Individual 1

It's working quite well

Regarding all the denials, remember Mark Felt denied for decades that he was Deep Throat.

Melania Trump accuses anonymous op-ed writer of 'sabotaging'

First lady Melania Trump on Thursday criticized the author of an anonymous New York Times op-ed critical of President Trump, accusing them of "sabotaging" the country.

"If a person is bold enough to accuse people of negative actions, they have a responsibility to publicly stand by their words and people have the right to be able to defend themselves," Melania Trump said in a statement to The Hill.

"To the writer of the [op-ed] — you are not protecting this country, you are sabotaging it with your cowardly actions," she added.

The first lady joined a slew of other high-ranking aides in pushing back against the op-ed, in which a senior administration official bashed President Trump and described a group of "unsung heroes" who have fought the president's "worst inclinations."

Melania Trump, who has publicly disagreed with her husband on a number of issues in recent months, highlighted the importance of free speech in her statement but lamented the increasing use of anonymous sources.

"Unidentified sources have become the majority of the voices people hear about in today’s news," she said. "People with no names are writing our nation’s history. Words are important, and accusations can lead to severe consequences." <SNIP>

If Melania Trump wants to find a coward, she only has to look at her husband, one of the cowardliest cowards in cowarddom. Bone spurs? What horseshit! Why is his hair orange? It's his yellow streak!

Now I can not help but think what a fun twist it would be if the author turns out to be Melania.

When did Melania Trump become a 'high-ranking aide'?

I don't think that it is anyone in Trump's own family. They, or most of them, may not like Trump himself all that much, including Melania, but they are all strongly wedded to his money, or at least his access to money. I don't think any of them would risk it by writing that article. It seems to me to have a somewhat military world view. Has Kelly yet denined?

Reading this bit of self serving nonsense reminds me of the speach in the movie ""Judgment at Nuremberg" (1961)

I really dont care who wrote it. All it is saying is "the constitutional crises is the removal of us from power. Trust us. we will hold back this man and discard him when the time is right. What we are doing is becasue we love our country. This will pass. And the bad things are worth it for the good things."

Utter, complete and total bullshit.

And Burt Lancaster was a hell of an actor.
Wow, very powerful. And dead on.

It can’t be Perry, Carson, or DeVos, too many big words.

Whoever wrote it, they were still OK with kidnapping and terrorizing thousands of children, drugging them, and throwing them in cages where many were physically and sexually abused.

That, apparently is consistent with their concept of being "American."

So, whoever wrote it can just fuck right off.

So Sessions hasn't denied being the author? I don't think he wrote it, but it would make me laugh if he let Trump wonder whether he did.

That was my reaction. The writer lost me in the fourt or fifth paragraph when they said "we believe Trumps actions have been good for America", however they said it. Then they had the nerve to suggest that we all need to drop the tribalism. I think they're in the unique position to do so first.

If I wrote that op-ed, I would lie convincingly that I never did.

Here's another problem with this whole business:

The people elected Donald Trump to be their President. They did not elect this person and their friends to ignore the president's orders and impose their own. They are exceeding their powers. If there are people in the Trump administration behaving this way, they must immediately either:

1. Come forward and initiate proceedings to remove the president, via impeachment or the 25th Amendment;
2. Carry out the will of President Trump; or
3. Resign immediately.

Put another way: if you heard that a third-world government is ignoring its elected leader and carrying out its own agenda, is something good about to happen to that country?
