I Quit

#1

Post by jez »

I quit smoking today for what seems the 50th time. I have patches, an app with a "distraction" mode (little memory/match game type thing), medication (Welbutrin), and I hope the support of my roommate when I get cranky.

So, here goes. Patch is on. Meds will be taken in about 2 hours (stick to a specific time when possible for all meds).

I quit smoking in May of 2014. I used the patch and used the steps, 6 weeks on the 1st step and 2 weeks for the second and third. It was hard. You can do it. :-?

Yay!
It IS hard but you can do it.

Look forward to not waking up to a mouth that tastes of an ashtray.

If you can...
Get your clothes laundered
Air your house
Deploy “Nil odour” or similar product in you house and car..
Getting rid of the smell triggers might help/encourage you.

You can do it, Jez! I hope you have an easy time of it and learn to substitute other activities during times when you might normally be lighting up.

Best wishes. I don’t know anyone who long term regrets quitting.

I’ve never been a smoker, but when I was young I used to have e weird dreams that included strong cravings for a cigarette. Weird.

Thanks everyone. So far the day has been.... tolerable. There are no bodies to hide and the roomies all survived. Though one of the boys used the lower part of my double boiler to make some pasta roni. We're going to have a talk.

This time it seems the morning ritual of having a smoke outside with the dog while the coffee is brewing is going to be a kicker. Along with that last one at night. And from prior experience, the worst thing is going to be the headache over the next few days. But I'll get it figured out. Maybe I'll try meditation.

Go for it! I quit twice, first time I was young and having kids, second time I was older, got divorced and started smoking again. Both times I attribute my success to having something to do with my hands. I was crocheting all sorts of blankets and stuff and it kept my hands busy. (Enter thumbs up smiley here)
