Is The EU A Superpower?
Economically - could be
Militarily - could be
(Noting France’s nuclear capability)
Would it be… probably not.

EU is not a military superpower, it has no own supranational armed forces. But it's part of NATO, so when anyone thinks they can attack on of the nations the NATO will reply, and as it happens, the US will be into the war games too.

Errrrrrr, no......
You have 27 different countries, varying in size from 313 Square km's (Malta) to 633,866 Square km's (France), populations from 521 thousand to 83 million, military sizes from 1000 to 342,000 and per capita GDP from 13.7k USD to 126.4k USD.
The economics vary from one of the least corrupt countries in the world, Denmark to Hungary currently listed at 77......
Politics vary from Green(ish) and far left of centre to hard right such as Poland and Hungary......
You then have the various unelected EU embedded political... sorry "economic, legal and trade" institutions that attempt to drive common policies and standards whilst driving "ever closer political integration", something that was never a real intention of the Treaty of Rome when the EU was created.
So you have a large very fractious family who vary from upright, teetotal, "Good Christian" school ma'ams to drunken, lecherous, violent rednecks who rarely agree on anything.
So nope, not close to being a superpower.....

Much the same as the "united" States of America then.Mr brolin wrote: ↑Tue Jul 25, 2023 2:34 pm You have 27 different countries, varying in size from

The major difference is that, when we talk of a "superpower" that word is usually used in terms of military capability, preferably nuclear. In that field the USA does function as it should.
As the EU is not a nation state with a military, then Nope, not even eligible to receive a nomination for the title of superpower.
