I won't cry when that day comes either. Hopefully the offspring/heirs aren't more extreme than the parents.

Valerie Harper, TV's Rhoda Morgenstern, Dies at 80
Valerie Harper, the resilient sitcom star whose nine-season run in the 1970s as wisecracking straight-shooter Rhoda Morgenstern made her one of the most beloved TV actresses of her era, has died after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 80.

Harper, who collected four Emmy Awards and one Golden Globe for playing the brash New Yorker on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and then on her own spinoff series Rhoda, died Friday morning, her family told KABC-TV entertainment reporter George Pennacchio.

The actress was told by doctors in January 2013 that she had leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, an incurable condition in which cancer cells spread into the membrane surrounding the brain. She was given as little as three months to live, but eight months later, she revealed that her cancer was near remission.

Harper allowed NBC News to film her for a documentary and accepted an invitation to appear on ABC's Dancing With the Stars. "The doctors want me to exercise!" the former ballet dancer said.

I loved Valerie, she was so kind to me, spent a lot of time with her. Now she's with Mary and Ted Knight (Ted Baxter, passed August 26, 1986) and Georgia Engel (Georgette, passed April 12, 2019).

But look who's still here, God love her!!! I met Betty and Valerie for the first time on the same night in 1992. Thank you Valerie for your courage and absolute fun, and keep on keeping on Betty!!

Betty White, 97, Jokes She's the One Thing More 'Badass' than the NFL's 100th Kickoff
At 97-years-old, Betty White has something to say about the NFL's 100 years of history

Betty White only goes by B-dog from now on!

The national icon is ready for football season and wants everyone else to be just as excited as she is — so she made an appearance in NBC’s promotional video for Sunday Night Football to celebrate the kickoff game of the National Football League‘s 100th season.

The promo starts with legendary commentator Al Michaels standing at a podium wondering how anyone could put 100 years of the NFL into words.

“I can!” White shouts from off-screen. As gasps ring out in the audience and the camera zooms to the 97-year-old actress sitting on a red velvet throne-like chair, Michaels asks in awe, “Betty White?”

All my younger years I desired to be "Mary" but alas, I was "Rhoda" and still am. However as maturity came, I learned to embrace my "Rhoda" with gusto. RIP Valarie.

I had no idea about the dancing. How cool is that?

I always channeled Rhoda. I loved the beaded curtains in her attic apartment (on MTM). I even did the fringed shawl around the head thing, when my teachers would allow it. I didn't watch so much after she got her own show, though.

That was a great season: Chris March and Christian Siriano. I had no idea that Chris was in such poor health. He was such a funny guy on the show.

This describes the accident and aftermath:

That would be more than I could stand today.

RIP, Jim.

One of our best travel friends. We were two weeks away from being with them for three and a half weeks in China. I cannot imagine going without them. We’ve been planning it for a year and a half. I managed to semi-keep it together enough to call the travel insurance people and we are covered for the death of a traveling companion. I don’t care about the trip. I care about Jim and his wife.

He’s one of the greatest guys I’ve ever known, a retired colonel from the army. We met in Australia nine years ago and have been traveling together since then. We love both of them. I’m so glad we got to visit with them in New Mexico this spring.
