King Rosey (thanks Foggy!) not happy about this. Calling his speshul depooties to resist!
Glenn Palmer

DO NOT sign a petition based on it being merely presented as being put on a ballot. DO NOT be afraid to say no. Tell your family and friends this is dangerous legislation across the board and not good for Oregon.
Here is what he is pissed off about - initiative to limit gunz of course. Rosey loves gunz.

Currently, in Grant County, there is an effort to takeover the County Court (our local legislatures) by the "Constitutional" party. Led by Jim Hamsher and Sam Palmer (Glenn's brother). It has a lot of support, as many locals think they have a chance to take our public lands (60% of our county) into local control. There's a lot of talk from long-timers about moving away. It's a tough time.

I'm sorry to hear that, gcgrandma. Grant County's already been through more than enough from what I've seen.

Welcome to the Fogbow, though! :bighug: Take off your shoes and cuddle up on the couch for awhile. Coffee and tea in the corner and I think there's still some apple strudel too. Sugar Magnolia will be along soon with some pie for you.

Hi, thanks for joining us and sharing this info. How do they figure they'll take this land away?

In theory, once they control the local court, they believe they will enforce the ordinances our county passed in the '90's, as part of the sagebrush rebellion. It sounds ridiculous, but they truly believe they have a chance of getting local control of land. Glenn has been responsible for spurring this on, as well as other anti-federal government extremists. And now, his brother (and his camo cropped top) is running for commissioner.

In most other areas, he wouldn't even be a serious candidate. The 'threat' of improved internet is really bringing out the crazy around here.

Palmer suggested the district begin with a selection process to determine which candidates were most comfortable handling a gun. He also offered to make available a computerized training program for active shooter situations.

“It’s kind of fun, actually,” he said.

Is Palmer a local - as in, are his parents from the area? I ask because in North-east Oregon it seems the trouble makers are always the blow-ins, and if they'd leave Oregon to the Oregonians, it'd all be unicorns and rainbows. (Stupid Idahoans. My sister has a theory about Idahoans. She's convinced Brigham Young sent all the dumb Mormons to Idaho to get rid of them. Then along comes Benson, who opens up large tracts of Oregon land and leaks the information to his cronies in Idaho and suddenly we're infiltrated by these idiots.)

Sorry...
local..

"Hometown boy

Palmer's upbringing and his early performance as a police officer give no hint that he would become a far right agent of change.

He was born into government service in the eastern Oregon county, one of the most sparsely populated in the state. His father was an engineer for the Malheur National Forest and his mother was a police dispatcher. Both were volunteer firefighters. Palmer was still in high school when he got his first government job - John Day dog catcher."

Sheriff Rosey's brother Sam got the most votes for County Commissioner - runoff in Nov. He is really trying to be the King of Grant County.

Those people in Grant County are going to end up just like the folks in Maricopa County - in debt for decades due to civil rights violations by their own sheriff after egging that sheriff on for years by continuing to vote him in office.

Sheriff Rosey's lawsuit against Grant County to reimburse him for legal expenses was denied. H/T twitter. If you click on the link it will download to your puter. I HATE when I am not warned about that so you are warned.
Edit: Here is a better link to the doc were you can view it without downloading it.

Grant County's commissioners last Wednesday also unanimously voted to offer Palmer's lawyers a settlement, Myers said. He declined to say how much, saying it's still pending.

Grant County residents, who elected and reelected Glenn Palmer, get to pay for his misdeeds. I don't really care, du u?

That's democracy! The electorate -- including the naysayers -- must suffer the consequences of its collective choices.

Yeah the 48% that voted for the other Sheriff candidate must wear the cost of Palmer along with the 52% that voted for him.

I find the election of LEO bizarre and :rolleye: :rolleye:
