When I was in AFROTC in college, I had a 6-week training camp at a SAC base. One thing they did was to take us up in an altitude chamber (50,000 feet?) and then remove our oxygen masks so that we could recognize our symptoms of altitude sickness. I was able to function ok for a minute or so.

Many years later I visited friends in Colorado Springs. They talked about adjusting to altitude, but I had no problems, so decided to take the cog railroad. Probably because I was about 20 years older, and because I was now breathing rarefied air all the way up, I could barely move when we got to the top.

But I was eventually able to get over to the snack bar to have their famous hot chocolate and donuts!

My Cog Railway purchase/memory was a sweat shirt that says "Got oxygen?" Pike's Peak 14,000 whatever feet (too lazy to find it and look).

Why is Racist Roger checking glaciers in Mexico? He's from Montana. There is a place a much closer to home where he can check glaciers, though not at this time of year.

will Gavin be stranded in his new homeland?

Picked from the interwebz:
mass gas shortages sweeping the country.

The poster said he waited at the station for 26 hours, just to receive a mere 20 litres of gas.
The shortage has been a problem in the state of Michoacan as well as the rest of the country for several days after thieves' illegal fuel taps have spiralled out of control

Does he still have his massive RV and van? I wonder what the gas mileage those things get.

I lived in Littleton (of Columbine High School Fame) for eighteen months when I was 7. We took the train up Pike's Peak, and I remember feeling queasy and lightheaded. I was too young to connect it to altitude sickness; I just felt so sick that I even refused M&M fudge that my dad offered me.

Gavin's getting touchy about all the people asking why he endangers his kids during his exploits. So he tries to turn the question around and make it seem like people who carry out their protests while at the same time keeping their children safe are really the ones in the wrong.

What next? Are we going to see a biblical justification for having the kids in the back seat of the van while he has emotional melt downs? Are we going to see the gospel on injuring your kids while you drive through toll gates?

like hiding behind kids in the back of a van when you cause your van window to be taken out by a gate you crashed and blamed the locals type of hiding? or a different type maybe like hiding behind your kids as an excuse to touch little girls at a local pool? or some other type?

Gavin starts his youtube by repeating the self-aggrandizing fantasy that the U.S. is a fascist state which he was brave and brilliant in escaping. I think we all know that Gavin uses this fantasy to paper over the reality that he couldn’t provide for his family and was a quivering coward in the face of a misdemeanor charge he brought on himself.

He goes on to repeat his fantasy that the U.S. intends to use the wall to keep U.S. citizens from traveling or emigrating to Mexico, thereby in his mind proving again that his flight to Mexico was a brave and brilliant move.

Gavin's a true renaissance man: he's incompetent at music, photography, hiking, parenting, activism, business, filmmaking, and probably more things.

I'm confused as to why he hangs a guitar from the wall instead of on a regular stand. It looks like it is there for a display, not to play.

If he is protecting from youngins who might damage it, you do that by putting it in its case and then putting that out of arms reach.

On an unrelated note, you'd think a professional photographer would know how to better frame a shot for a video, and light it so one side of his phase is not always in shadow. I won't even mention the busy background with a bunch of cables and some cup. Oh wait, I just did.

Busy backgrounds may work on a show like Mythbusters, but that is because they give an aura of a busy workshop. It just makes Gav look sloppy.

I have my Bass guitars hanging on wall mounts, like the ones in music stores. keeps them out of the way of the dogs and I play almost every day, so I don't like keeping them in the cases,

and they do look kinda cool hanging there :)

misdemeanors are hard
that pic looks more like he pinched whatever is under his left arm and the store owner is trying to catch him to pay for it. and why would a guy just randomly be walking around with a can of Mapp gas?

Has he ever videoed himself playing guitar? Several poots have no problem sharing their instrumental skills and/or singing on social media, but I don't recall seeing any musically creative posts from gav.

Racist Roger walked up another mountain.
Roger Roots is with Kelli Stewart and 18 others.
4 hrs ·
My experience 5 days ago on Iztaccíhuatl was great training for my current pursuit: getting up the highest mountain in Mexico, Pico de Orizaba 5,636 m (18,491 ft). I got lucky and told a lady at a snack store that I wanted to climb Orizaba and she motioned with her hands that I should wait by the storefront. She apparently called some relatives who happened to be driving up to the trailhead (about an 8-mile ride up a horrendous jeep trail). Apparently her entire family were either climbing guides or somehow engaged in activities on the mountain!

They drove me up to the trailhead at around 14,000 feet and dumped me off. I said gracias and goodbye and hiked up until I hit snow (at around 16,000 feet). Then I threw my sleeping bag on the ground and shivered through the night.

Here I am the next morning at the base of the largest glacier in Mexico.
► Show Spoiler
He found a HUGE glacier so global warming is a hoax I suppose. He also rented crampons and put them on his running shoes. Using rocks instead of an ice axe. He is so so stupid.
I am surprised at the vastness of Mexico's glaciers. This one is probably larger than any in Montana. I came to Mexico without much gear, thinking I could navigate around the glaciers without an ice axe, crampons or boots. I rented a set of crampons but am still wearing running sneakers and jeans.

And as usual I'm violating the first rule of mountaineering: never go alone. Still, my time is limited so I'm going to give it a try.

What the fluff does he need yellow MAPP gas for? Gas Plumbing and Seim will only ever appear in the same sentence in a coroner's report.
