Here's my man Tusitala. Out on probation, lengthy criminal history, allowed to hang out with his gang. BUT... I'm willing to bet you won't see him throwing any punches or committing any acts of violence today.

I hope there aren't some middle-aged Chilean people around who might feel the need to slug this asshat.
Ok, I'm not up on my South American history, but isn't throwing people out of aircraft more associated with Argentina than Chile? Pinochet's Chile pretty much just jailed, tortured, and killed people. "Death flights" were a well-known tactic of the Dirty War.

Ha Ha - I'm going to go shop at Freddy's tomorrow - thank you Freddy's. Article features a pic of that dumbass "Billy Sessions" from Arkansas.
Gibson, who lives in Vancouver, announced this week that shuttles with armed guards on them would be available to pick supporters up from the Grand Central Retail Center just east of downtown to take them into Portland.

But security and tow trucks milled around the Fred Meyer parking lot at 2500 Columbia House Blvd., ready to pick up anyone who left their car at the private shopping center. Portland-based commercial real estate firm NAI Elliot, which manages the property, announced Friday that anyone who parked except to shop or work would be towed at their own expense.

“Once we leave, our cars are toast,” a woman with the demonstrators told the crowd.

Joey Gibson right here!

Apparently Joey and a few of his posse managed to evade the police barrier to cross the street and walk amoung the counter protesters. Luckily, he wandered into the peaceful crowd that only dogged him, but didn't harm him. Personally, I consider that a deliberate act of incitement.

A question for the lawyers here - how constitutional are permit fees that cover the public costs of an event?

Specifically, protest march permit fees that cover the cost of police and other city services during said event.

As it stands now, the public is required to underwrite the cost of providing police protection to a known agitator. With each ensuing march, the crowds get larger, and the tab gets bigger. At what point should an event organizer be liable for the costs of providing these services to them?

Another legal question: why do counter protesters need a permit?

A common argument in news comment sections by Gibson supporters is the counter protesters, and more specifically ANTIFA, did not have a permit to hold their their gathering. Is there any basis for this?

Gibson obtained a permit to hold a his first amendment rally in a public park, and then announced it on social media from an open account accessible to all. He put no restrictions on who may attend. He didn't charge admission. There were no ticket sales. He didn't state it was strictly a private affair for invitees only. He made no efforts to dissuade the general public from attending. So, why would those attending, but barred from entry, be required to have a permit?

It was the police that separated people into two groups: those in support of Gibson, and those who were not. There are no laws restricting people denied entry to a public event in a public venue from remaining in the area. As far as I can tell, there are no grounds to support an argument that counter protesters need a permit.

The state of Washington has an open primary system with the first two majority winners going to the general election. With this system, it is possible for two Democrats or two Republicans to face off in November. But, in this particular US Senate race, there will be a D and a R with the incumbent D having a comfortable lead.

The fact that Gibson garnered 2.3% of a 26% turnout race shows there is a segment within the conservative bloc that is dissatisfied with the current Republican candidate, but extrapolating the numbers out, they only total a few ten thousand strong. ie: the size of a suburban city. While not enough to sway a statewide vote one way or another, if they were to arrive at a single location all at once, they would seem quite formidable. And that is how Joey operates.

That's how that conversation tends to go, IMNSHO.

It is also the parameter of people who refuse to vote for the "establishment" candidates No matter who they are and routinely vote for whoever isn't, regardless of party. The Socialist Worker's Party or Libertarian Party used to be the parties of choice where I lived. Names change, the phenomena doesn't. I'd say more within voter wastage norms and so would be well within the realms of normal stupid and not really significant to any real degree. Sad, but insignificant..
