OK, we just got back from shopping. The first shop we went into was a veggie shop and they had music playing.

Fine.

Except that the song that was playing was some unintelligible rap thing that sampled a sixty-year-old megahit earworm.

Well guess what?

THAT SONG IS STILL AN EARWORM.

Even after 20 minutes of playing some tracks from Eric Clapton's "Sessions For Robert J" very loudly on the way home.

Never having been some who enjoys suffering in solitude, I hereby inflict it upon you all.

Has everybody heard about the bird?

For those who like more eye candy with their Anvil Chorus, there's the David McVicar production.

Wow. That's a good cover of a song I've loved since S&G first sang it. I'm not familiar with Peyton, bit I see he is involved with Disturbed. They released their version almost a decade ago that breathed new life into the song. I love it too.

I subscribed to his YouTube channel after Phoenix520 posted something of his. He's really talented. I think he's just finished recording enough songs for a CD. Love his work.

I've gone down a bit of a musical rabbit hole recently. I've been listening to some older Brandi Carlile which oddly led me to Allison Russell, who I'd never heard of before. Her early work was actually in folk music and the influence is still there.

This is Eve Was Black from The Returner which is new. (Audio only)

Somewhere in there I became aware of her work with Our Native Daughters. All four of the women play banjo. From the album Songs of Our Native Daughters:

She also did a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR (great series, BTW) and this is really special. (You're Not Alone is repeated as the fourth song here.) The third song, Nightflyer, was on Obama's best of 2021 playlist. Watch this one if you don't watch the others.

And now for something completely different. This is a very new TDC featuring Anne Akiko Meyers and it's stunningly beautiful. According to the blurb on YT that violin is from 1741 and is worth $16 million.
