From the official twitter acct of Mississippi Democrats, @msdemocratJust suffered through 3 hours of the "birther" hearing. The plaintiff's arguments give new meaning to the word "tedium."[/break1]com/MSDemocrat/status/269565604283940865] ... 4283940865Yes, that would be a new definition of "tedium", because I don't think "crazy bullshit" was part of the definition.

The idea that the Hawai'i Attorney General would fail to pay for Onaka and Fuddy's defense costs never made any sense to me. But now we know.It makes sense if you think of what it would take/cost for Hawai'i's AG to send someone. Besides airfare/hotel/food costs, they'd have to file for admission pro hac vice, and spend the time familiarizing themselves with the local rules. Better for all concerned just to have someone already there do it. ;)Well, that could go either way. If you're already familiar with the practices of a couple of federal districts, getting up to speed with a new one isn't so hard, especially with a bone-simple case like this. Plus Ms. Nagamine has a lot of background that Mississippi counsel needs to acquire, and that could be costly.

Since the Hawai'i Attorney General engaged a prominent member of the Mississippi bar, and at least one associate, to represent Onaka and Fuddy, I speculate that providing a robust defense was a higher priority than cutting costs. They must be quite sick of Taitz.

But my post addressed the separate issue of whether the AG acknowledged an obligation to defend these state employees. If I recall correctly, there was doubt expressed upthread about that.

I'm also quite sure that they called the Mississippi AG to ask "who would you recommend?" ;)

Is there any indication that this is going to go later than 6?Depends on your time zone. ;;) It may go past 6 p.m. Central. That's 7 p.m. where I am.That won't give much time for the BOTG to update us. You'll simply have to listen to R.C. Radio if you want the latest.Link at the top of every page of the forum, under Site Announcements.

Is there any indication that this is going to go later than 6?The judge told the parties and counsel to bring a toothbrush. It was going to go until it was finished however long it took. So, yes. It could go way past and possibly start again early tomorrow.

I need more chocolate.I need more bourbon. The wine is drunk, the cat is fed, the cocoa is about to be made. I hope Judge Wingate doesn't let Orly go on for too long, as I don't think she has an off switch. It's bedtime here and I would like to get an update before I go to sleep. :)

I have a favor to ask. Will someone please record and post tonight's RCR as I will be stuck in traffic for the remainder of the foreseeable future. Thanks.
bring out the tumbrils. I am so fucking filled with pain and anger at what is going on in this country. I do deeply believe that if trump somehow retains power it will be the end of democracy in this country and the end of this country as we know it.
