I don't remember Ringo doing that. Did they mean Joe Cocker?

Shirley, Ringo's song is You're Sixty, you're wrinkled, and you're greyed

Lennon/McCartney, written for Ringo, second song first side Sgt Pepper, puts Ringo in the mythical Billy Shears character. Joe Cocker did it just a year later and at least half a dozen others. Even the Bee Gees with Peter Frampton!

Gifted.
But Hulse lived alone — as 3 out of 5 Americans in their 80s do.

A hospital can be liable if a patient is discharged into an unsafe environment. Because Hulse lived alone and the hospital officials saw no sign that he had family, that put them in a bind when his health didn’t improve. So they argued in court that he was no longer capable of making his own decisions and needed a guardian — a caretaker with enormous legal power.

When a judge agreed, Hulse lost basic freedoms: He couldn’t spend his own money or decide where to live. The lifelong Republican who had just cast his ballot in the 2020 presidential primary even lost his right to vote. He was quickly moved to a nursing home. His new guardian, a woman he had never met, began selling his house and his belongings.

In consecutive months at the beginning of 2006, my mom was diagnosed with uterine cancer, my dad was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and then my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer (not a metastases). A couple years later, the breast cancer came back, but since then, the treatments have worked and my parents have been cancer-free for 15+ years.

No longer. Mom had a lung biopsy Nov 1, and got the results yesterday. Neuroendocrine cancer in the lung (not technically lung cancer, it's different tissue). This is a rare cancer, and is very slow growing. Fortunately, it is operable, but the recovery is going to be NOT FUNTM (she had a collapsed lung a few decades ago, this will be similar but worse). Surgery is being scheduled for January so she can enjoy the holidays, especially since my sister is planning on visiting from Virginia with my niece.

Totally agree!

Sorry about your mom. I hope for the best for her.

Oh, I forgot the best part. How did they know to do a biopsy? They saw the mass when she was hospitalized for Covid. It had grown a bit when they looked a year later, and then again when they looked a month ago.

Covid may have saved my mom's life.

I've been hiding this for two weeks, but in fairness, I was in a coma for a few days.

I'm going to hide it, because it's kind of disturbing, my physical injuries are going to heal long before this sits right in my mind.... I'm going to need a bit of therapy and I think posting it is part of that.

Most of my IRL friends only know I was in the hospital for a week, and that an amputation is involved and I'm using a walker, but not why.

So, here we go...

An amazing tale! I always enjoy your clever comments, but this one, WOW! I hope you get better quickly.
As a side comment and hopefully useful, my husband requires a walker and because they are set so low, it was forcing him to become almost a hunchback and lose, what little, core strength he had left. He had a welder extend the arms so can can move in a more upright position. It has helped i him immeasureably.

Crap, Gregg! Septic shock is serious stuff. My brother had it in the middle of Covid and if his girlfriend hadn't found him and dragged his ass to the ER he probably wouldn't be around today. But he didn't have a long list of other issues to go with it. Shit...so sorry.

Take care and get well soon.
