Anyone miss the daily scandals of the previous administration yet? This is boring.

I jest.

Maybe I'm a bit worn out from practicing, taking a bunch of stuff to the church, setting up for a wedding rehearsal, and going through said rehearsal (I am bit out of shape for this type of activity) but when in saw this topic, at first I thought it was about Biden's kitchen.

The right-wing outrage machine continues to be outraged.

Yesterday, for example, Harris met with the Japanese Prime Minister before he met with Biden.

Many on the right were offended on Japan's behalf for this diplomatic slight.

(This is, of course, not a genuine scandal.)

The diplomatic slight is, of course, that Harris and Biden were sent to meet with the prime minister instead of the One True President. (I don't think I have to name him.)

Aren't these protocols worked out ahead of time by staffers? Did anyone ask the prime minister if he was offended?

Yes, many aggrieved said just that.
Did anyone ask the prime minister if he was offended?
No; grievance culture is all about assuming the offense.
Aren't these protocols worked out ahead of time by staffers?
Undoubtedly so. I have little doubt that Harris' pre-meeting visit with the prime minister did not offend any sense of "equals meeting as equals" of the later, official meeting. (Are we going to be offended that Biden didn't personally meet the prime minister on the tarmac?)

My larger point being that this administration's "scandals" are presently at tan-suit levels.

Undoubtedly. Or maybe wearing a bicycle helmet levels.

Fore! Biden plays golf for the first time as president
https://local12.com/news/nation-world/f ... ent?041721
Biden, once an avid golfer, played Saturday at the Wilmington Country Club, not far from his Delaware home where he was spending the weekend. It was his first time playing golf since taking office in January.
:snippity:

Biden’s predecessor, Donald Trump, played frequently, totaling over 300 rounds in his four years at office including during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic last year. Trump also would only play at country clubs he owned in Florida, Virginia and New Jersey.

I know little about golf. But from what I have seen in the comics and sitcoms over the years does anyone who "plays" golf not cheat? ;)

Without going into detail, I will simply say that it is a matter of great pride here at the U.S. Embassy in Bangladesh that Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, the current Ambassador's predecessor in Bangladesh, is intended to fill the Assistant Secretary-level post of Director-General of the Foreign Service (i.e., the administrative manager of all Foreign Service employees of the State Department). The local staff here loved her utterly and are over the moon that someone they personally know and who is well-briefed on this part of the world is to take up such a high position.

So, yeah, that's good.

As round and round we run;
And the truth shall ever come uppermost,
And justice shall be done.

Andy Slavitt, a senior advisor on President Joe Biden’s coronavirus response team, confirmed Friday that he will be leaving his role in early June.

Slavitt, whose temporary position on Biden’s Covid panel was known to be expiring next month, said that while the administration had achieved many of its goals for the pandemic, more work remains to be done.

“Look, there’s never a perfect time to leave,” Slavitt said in a Bloomberg interview. But he said he believes that when he does step away from the role, “things are in really great hands with the people here, that many difficult things have been accomplished.”

“There’s much more work to do, but the people here, I couldn’t think of a better set of people to do it than the people that will be here when I’m gone,” he said.

Neera Tanden, who withdrew from consideration to lead the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) amid bipartisan criticism, is joining the White House as a senior adviser to President Biden.

Biden had said upon Tanden's OMB withdrawal in March that he would find a job for her in the White House that did not require Senate confirmation. CNN first reported Friday that she would be focused on potential ramifications should the Supreme Court strike down the Affordable Care Act, as well as a review of the U.S. Digital Service.

"Neera’s intellect, tenacity, and political savvy will be an asset to the Biden administration as she assumes a new role as Senior Advisor to the President," John Podesta, founder and director of the Center for American Progress, said in a statement. "While we will be sorry to lose her considerable policy expertise and leadership at the Center for American Progress — an organization which we founded together in 2003 — I am exceptionally thrilled to see her step into a new position serving this White House and the American people."

Tanden, who would have been the first woman of color to lead OMB, faced scrutiny over mean tweets she had written about Republicans and progressive Democrats alike in her previous role heading the think tank.
