Foggy and all who worked on the cleanup project, can't begin to thank you all, and can't begin to imagine what all you had to do, or that you got it done so quickly. This is just so much cleaner and easier to get around in now, and the universe isn't dying of energy death while I wait for the pages to load.
Again bravo!!!!! :cheer1: :grouphug:

Memories from the future, or what I miss:

The Sports forum is listed although I am not a member. Can this again be hidden from folks not interested in these activities?

The former invocation of phpBB had a nice listing of subforums on the board index. Can we have thiscback too, also?

Yes, and yes. Those were not emergencies and the subforums one is time-consuming, but I'll get them done.

*sniff* But what if I AM interested in the whole Pro Sports sub-forum?

Does "hiding" the forum mean I can never see new threads and posts at the Pro Sports sub-forum?? It won't let me subscribe to the entire sub-forum, so will hiding it mean no Pro Sports for moi?

All you have to do is join the Sports Fans group and they will be visible. :trojans: :cheer:

Yes.

Anyone can join the Sports Fans usergroup (User Control Panel --> Usergroups tab) and then you'll be able to see the sports forums.

Sadly, we (and several other forums I know of) have lost the services of John Thomas8 in creating weekly pickems, and football season is right 'round the corner.

But we'll prolly still talk about football. It's the American thing to do.

Pre season ratings are like political polls at this time of the year. They mean nothing but bragging rights for a few weeks.

It would be easy enough to issue a press release: "The Fogbow Declares IPS Is Worse Than Donald Trump"... it will attract visitors for sure.
Sterngard Friegen wrote:So IPS (or whatever the hell they're called) gave us a gift upon departure. How nice. It's good to know we were appreciated.

Is there anything we can do to slam that software publicly?

Because it used to store every single comment (including all eleventy-gazillion of yours) in a single lookup table, which, as of a year ago, had grown to over a gigabyte and was making the forum unstable. While I disliked the new software from the start, I never questioned Foggy's decision to move either then or now. Unfortunately, at the time there was no way that he could know that IPS was making coding decisions that were far worse than the idiot who designed the single table architecture and that phpBB was working to fix their own issues. Even knowing what we do now about IPS, the decision to move to IP Board was still the right one (the decision to upgrade to 4.0, not so much).

So a weird thing is happening with FoxFire (but not with Safari) on my Macbook Pro (OS 10.9.5):

About half the time I click on a page on the Fogbow Forum--the page loads, but then immediately flips to a Page Not Found page, the url of which is that of some member's nonexistant avatar (e.g. tfb.c/phpbb/images/avatars/upload/Fortinbras.jpg). It's not just Forti; it's triggered by any avatar piccy that isn't there.

I can get around it by hitting the back button and immediately hitting the "stop loading" icon. But it's not much fun. This just started over the weekend.

Thanks to everyone who is working on the site. I just love it and am sorry to add to your burden.

Edited to add: It appears to happen only with the Latte theme.

Ya, well I'm a Buckeyes fan too also.

Here in Leghorn Acres, we root for four football teams, based on alma maters of us and our dads:

My dad: Navy
Wifehorn's Dad, Ohio State
Me: University of Spoiled Children
Wifehorn: UCLA

So I root for the Bucks or the Bruins every game unless they're playing the Trojans, and Wifehorn roots for SC unless we're playing OSU or UCLA.

Keeps marital conflicts to a minimum.

Funny story: One year in December I got a big shop vacuum, a professional grade super vacuum. Took me a couple hours to put it together and test it. It has big hoses that go to the power woodworking tools to keep dust and wood chips from cluttering up the shop. I put it together and tested it and proudly went in to announce to Wifehorn:

"My vacuum cleaner sucks WAY more than your vacuum cleaner."

"So does your football team," says she.

Something changed this morning. The prosilver theme is messed up on safari on my iPad. Is anyone else experiencing that?

Here are some examples?

Mine is doing that as well on multiple themes, though not quite to the same extreme as your examples.

I could also mention it seems slow this morning, but the slowness would be from a slow and weak connection at my location. I could only imagine what the other software would be like here in the northland.
