Tester gave me a slight change of instructions on how to run the reparser, but it still requires that the forum be disabled. I will do it early tomorrow morning, and we'll be offline.

I asked him how long it might take, given that we have 1.2 million posts now.

He said, "We shall see."



Oh, come on. It can't take more than a few weeks ...

Nope, that didn't work either. I'm not sure we need the reparser, and it involves using SSH to log in to the server as root, which can be dangerous.

So I'm not going to keep trying. The board works great, we can live with it as it is.

Here's the message I'm getting. It "reparses" 12.0 MiB of data, in a database of 545 gigabytes.

In less than one second.

That's not what's supposed to happen.

Thanks, girlfriend, but I don't really need hugs. I'm extremely happy with the way the board is working today. I'm so glad I hired Tester to work on it.

This election is scaring the crap out of me, but we're ready to go through it together, as a community, which is the only thing keeping me sane right now. There are days when I'm certain the Criminal-in-Chief is going to steal the election and get away with it. Terrifying.

... and this ride is definitely going to get rougher, the closer we get to Election Day. I'm 100% positive he hasn't even begun the truly crazy shit he's going to pull over the next few months.

I used to love the cli. But, as systems got more complex, and each piece had its own computer running its own proprietary software with its own unique form of insanity syntax, I had to hand off more responsibility to specialists.
