Interesting article about Boogaloo with some sort of surprising if true info.
Talking to the boogaloo: An exclusive series of conversations with a would-be revolutionary

This is the first in a two-part series.

The history-shaping year that recently ended was a year of spectacular violence. It was the year of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, the year when a pandemic took hundreds of thousands of lives, many of them needlessly. It was a year that forced us to recalibrate fundamental social and cultural systems, a year that spawned both a summer of protest and dozens of anti-government demonstrations featuring armed militia members around and inside state capitols. It was the year a Blackhawk helicopter performed show-of-force maneuvers over protesters in the streets of Washington. It was the year that QAnon went to Congress. It was and the year that bred — one week into the following year — a deadly insurrection at the seat of democracy, fomented by the president of the United States.

It was also the year when the "boogaloo" — a nonpartisan, anti-government militia movement marketed to millennials and zoomers, which professes the goal of launching, or perhaps just instigating, a bloody revolutionary war — saw its membership and media presence swell, capturing fears and headlines. The movement also saw a corresponding spike in attention from activists, academics and journalists who monitor extremist groups, and who urge caution when trying to analyze the boogaloo and its many feints and contradictions.

In recent weeks, one member of that movement approached Salon with an offer to tell his story as a dissident within the boogaloo. He asked not to be identified, for personal security reasons. He said he would go by Sam. "It is not hyperbole when I say that the people I associate with would happily kill me," Sam said in his introduction. He explained that his primary motive for approaching Salon was to expose what he considers the boogaloo's bad-faith exploitation of marginalized communities and "to clarify what is being planned and the motivations behind those plans." "I believe the public, that is those not associated with a radical or extremist movement, have a right to know who is standing on their street and what they want," Sam said.

The boogaloo hope that the branding and their break with "conservative" signaling — they often make a show of standing with LGBTQ+, Black Lives Matter and antifa in protest situations — will intrigue outsiders and appeal both to the naive mass media and to a broader, younger pool of recruits. Members frequently call themselves "Boogaloo Bois" in public, a gesture toward (or hijacking of) LGBTQ culture. Again, Sam — who identifies as bisexual — never used that term in his conversations with Salon. In fact, one of his most salient criticisms of the movement was its eagerness to cynically co-opt the language and symbology of marginalized groups, such as LGBTQ and minority communities. He says that the boogaloo boasts a sizable LGBTQ contingent, and that he is unhappy with this disingenuous trend, which he says is creating an unproductive, corrosive effect. (Sam shared a screenshot of one chat in which another member emphasized that demonstration attire should include prominent displays of support for LGBTQ causes — entirely for tactical reasons. Photos of boogaloo members make clear this is common.)
In Sam's view, the movement should align itself with oppressed groups in genuine solidarity, as he says it did when he first joined, He said he has collaborated with other members to "shift the media toward something positive."

‘Boogaloo’ extremists destroyed evidence in probe of officer’s murder, feds say
Four members of an armed right-wing group linked to the anti-government “boogaloo” movement have been charged with conspiring to destroy evidence related to the fatal shooting of a Federal Protective Service officer and the wounding of another in Oakland, Calif., last May, prosecutors announced Friday.

A federal grand jury indictment says members of the Northern California-based Grizzly Scouts tried to cover for one of their own after he allegedly gunned down the officers, deleting chat histories that included a message reading, “Dudes i offed a fed.”

Jessie Alexander Rush, 29, Robert Jesus Blancas, 33, Simon Sage Ybarra, 23, and Kenny Matthew Miksch, 21, are accused of conspiracy to destroy records and destruction of records in official proceedings. Rush faces an additional count of obstruction of official proceedings, and Blancas is charged with an additional count of destruction of records in official proceedings.

2nd member of Boogaloo Bois pleads guilty to conspiracy to provide material to support Hamas

https://kstp.com/minnesota-news/second- ... -/6096763/
A Minnesota man who has ties to the Boogaloo Bois, a loosely-connected group of individuals who espouse violent anti-government sentiments, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide materials to support Hamas.

According to the U.S Department of Justice, Michael Solomon, 31, of New Brighton, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to provide material support to what he believed was Hamas, a designated foreign terrorist organization, for use against Israeli and U.S. military personnel overseas.

According to court documents, in late May of 2020, the FBI initiated an investigation into Solomon and co-defendant Benjamin Ryan Teeter, two members of the "Boogaloo Bois," and a sub-group called the "Boojahideen."

Court documents say in June 2020, Solomon and Teeter met with a confidential source who they believed was a member of Hamas. During those meetings, Solomon and Teeter discussed providing assistance to Hamas "as a means to of furthering the goals of the Boogaloo Bois," according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Militia plotted ‘war’ against California cops, impersonating Antifa, taking up arms if Trump invoked Insurrection Act, feds say [/b
https://www.mercurynews.com/2021/06/06/ ... -feds-say/
In recent court filings, federal prosecutors in the Bay Area have revealed the most extensive details yet on the investigation into the May 29, 2020 fatal shooting of Federal Protective Service Officer Dave Patrick Underwood in Oakland, and the June 6, 2020 killing of Santa Cruz Sheriff Sgt. Damon Gutzwiller in an ambush in Ben Lomond.

The documents paint a picture of the alleged shooter, Steven Carrillo, not as a lone actor but a member of a Northern California-based anti-government organization that — in its rhetoric and actions — was preparing for deadly attacks on law enforcement. The Grizzly Scouts — most of whom are still at large — identify with a loosely-affiliated, nationwide militia movement that uses the name “Boogaloo” and favors Hawaiian shirts and violent rhetoric, but the Scouts’ activities appear to be more carefully plotted.

Three days after the killing of Underwood, the members allegedly discussed the possibility that then-President Donald Trump would invoke the Insurrection Act in the wake of protests over the murder of George Floyd by a Minneapolis policeman.

“[T]hat ^^^ will be our sign,” Rush allegedly texted the others. “That effectively means the federal gov has declared war on things they’re afraid of.”
:snippity:
On June 3, the group also allegedly discussed ways to stir up violence between Antifa groups and police. Blancas allegedly wrote that he was “totally down” to disguise himself as an Antifa member and spark a violent conflict.

More about their sickening plans in the article.

I love the Mercury News. But their website continues to be the buggiest out there. Which I don’t understand. It’s been like this for 15 years. :confuzzled: I’ve tried many times over the years to subscribe to the digital version. Every.time., something goes wrong.

SAN FRANCISCO (CN) — A member of an anti-government militia group who pleaded guilty to murdering a federal guard during George Floyd protests in Oakland was sentenced in federal court Friday to 41 years in prison.

Air Force Sergeant Steven Carrillo, 33, pleaded guilty to two counts against him in February, and his defense’s plea bargain was accepted Thursday in court by Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers.

Carrillo was arrested in June 2020, one week after he opened fire on law enforcement officials near the Oakland federal courthouse on Clay Street, during a night of protests of the murder of George Floyd. He fired on two security guards on duty outside the Ronald V. Dellums Federal Building, from a van driven by Robert Justus — killing federal guard David Patrick Underwood and seriously wounding his partner.
