I got no beef with with the more smilies button, dear. You poor elderly people, I had no idea it was so hard for you!  Arthritic fingers that tap tap tap all day long must get sooo tired. I understand, no really, I get it. No more sarcasm, I promise, Delicate Flower. (hey, there's no fingers crossed behind the back smilie!),

In general, I hate smilies and for the longest time refused to use them. After reading about Poe's law, I realize that they is a need for some way of letting the reading know that you are being sarcastic. Too often a sarcastic comment causes a lot of problems because it is not in context or the mindset of the writer is unknown except to a few of his regular readers.

One thing that some blogs have in the comments section is a way to express simple approval or agreement ( or disagreement) without having to make a new post as is often done here to put a [+1] or a smiley expressing approval. Some have the 'thumbs up' and 'thumbs down' with a count for each that serves in the place of a lot of posts taken up by nothing but smilies.

All that aside, I just saw and used the steaming pile at the end of my last post. Now that is a very useful little picture that says an awful lot.

I think we need a smiley for this emotion.

Fellow-haters : Hit ESC to STOP THE DANG THINGS.

(At least some have been hidden. The flame-thrower should be hidden.)

Hello, my name is Tav and I'm a smiley user.

[Boogle: Hi, Tav.] :grouphug:

Color me very happy to see all the new silly little emoticons available for our abuse use. :cheer:

Since my monitor is set to average font size, scrolling wasn't a problem, though some of the large smilies did take up a lot of room on the sidebar.

The idea to add the "View more smilies" link was a great one, and thanks to Foggy both for the new toys (animated, even!) and for the link. :notworthy:

PS: There are two :duel: on page six :jawdrop:

Foggy, even though you have moved the smilies behind a link, its still taking up a lot of blank space in the side just as if the smilies were still there. Like stern they yearn for freedom.

truth is, my hand problems right now are a result of my computer time. Dr. said steroid shots might help. But I thought I'd just curtail my online time.

The smilies aren't a deal. Opening a can or attempting to use scissors, well, that's another deal.

Stick a hundred in there.

Smilies were invented by the ancient Egyptians, along with cats.
