My friend's sister died of Covid this morning.
3 days after being admitted to the hospital.
3 fucking days. She's 2 years older than me.

Sorry to hear that Sugar.

My mom told me last night that my uncle in Michigan has COVID-19. He had been in a care facility for several years and apparently it is spreading there. His health has gone downhill quickly.

On a "happier" note, we went out to forage for food today. There were tons of cars on the roads, just like a pre-TrumpPlague day. Still no cleaning supplies, paper products, hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, etc. But NOW THEY ARE HOARDING PASTA! I get it that it keeps on the shelf, etc. but the pasta shelves were stocked adequately until today.

Ramen is low too here. I don’t think it’s hoarding. Spaghetti and such are low $$$ / calorie foods and I think people are trying to stretch dollars as far as possible.

My son-in-law's cousin was tested today. It's assumed he has it.

Ya know what else is being hoarded? Zinc. I had no idea until I buy it it. Amazon is backlogged. Other than a handful of very low dose zinc and multi-mineral combos, it's unavailable until late April or longer. Even the ones that might be available later in April will not reach the buyers until mid May according to Amazon.

Zinc boosts the immune system, so I guess that's why it's now hard to find. (By the way, NIH, Mayo Clinic, etc., report that. So not woo, but definitely not a miracle drug.)

I found my usual $8.50 Advanced Cerovite vitamin/mineral supplement (including zinc) just in time. Only 30 left. On seller is selling it for $27 plus $20 shipping.

Yes, she lives over around Meridian, close to the AL state line.

When my wife is bored she has a tendency to knit teddy bears. She's finally starting to feel a little bit better and was bored today. This was the result.

Yeast is being hoarded too. Difficult for an actual baker.

I ran out to Fresh Thyme this morning to grab some chorizo for chili and decided to swing by Costco to see if it was a good time to make a booze run. There was almost nobody there. I got our wine and bourbon but on my way back to get a tub of dishwasher tablets I spied a couple of pallets of Charmin at the back of the store. We didn't stock up like half the rest of the city when this started so we were actually starting to run a little low. I've seen some of the cheaper stuff off and on but that's the first package of Charmin I've seen since this whole thing started. I'm not too proud to admit that I snagged a 30 roll pack that will last us for weeks. :)

Restaurant supply stores around here still have flour. Smart&Final still has some but I got there too late today. They’ll re-stock tonight.

No one in my town is hoarding pasta. Paper towels,TP, and bacon, though, are in short supply. Bacon?

Some of the stuff people are hoarding is just strange. I had a hard time finding fabric softener last week. Luckily for me, nobody was hoarding sugar free jelly. :)

The entire olive and pickle aisle was cleaned out last time I went. Thank goodness I had the forethought to hoard chopped kalamatas.
