Shreveport is the third largest city in the whole state so he didn't exactly head off to the boonies for the rally.
All kidding aside, he's still not doing them in Chicago, LA, New York City, Atlanta, Philly.....
And that was my point (badly made, obviously). He's had to move into tertiary and smaller "markets" to peddle his wares.

No, he's hitting the red states with governor elections. He was in MS twice last month to support our idiot new red gov, and the red gov is fighting what we hope is a losing battle tomorrow in LA.

But even then, it doesn't look like he's hitting cities that will make the most impact on the election.

Or am I misreading something?

If I was doing it to support the state candidate, the third largest city in that state would probably be on my list of places to visit. Would you suggest he went to Crowville, LA instead? And Bossier City has a military base.

I would think New Orleans or Baton Rouge.

Both are much more liberal than the northern part of the state.

During my time in Shreveport, 1983-1986, Bossier City was a place you only went “if you desperately had to”.

USA Today
William Barr: Democrats' investigations into Trump are political harassment meant to 'sabotage' his presidency

WASHINGTON–Attorney General William Barr said Friday that President Donald Trump's political opponents have sought to "sabotage" the current administration since his inauguration by pursuing a "scorched earth, no-holds-barred resistance" meant to derail his presidency.

"The pursuit of scores of investigations and an avalanche of subpoenas is meant to incapacitate" the administration, Barr said in a biting address to the conservative Federalist Society.

The attorney general, in a full-throated defense of the president, said the political "harassment" contravenes the intent of the Constitution's framers who, he said, meant to provide the chief executive with sweeping authority.

"I am convinced that the deck has been stacked against the executive," Barr said.

Barr's remarks came as Trump has been swept up in an impeachment inquiry over allegations he pressured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to open investigations into political rival and former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, who served on the board of a Ukrainian energy company.

Well, ever since at least the days of G.H.W. Bush, Barr would understand sabotage. I’ll give him that.

The headline is a bit misleading. The White House blames "NSC's Ukraine expert." The article presumes this is Lt. Col. Vindman. If it was Vindman who prepared the readout, the White House would say so. So I'm guessing it wasn't him.

New York Times
With a Tweet, Trump Upends Republican Strategy for Dealing with Yovanovitch

House Republicans planned ahead, hoping to strike a respectful tone at Friday’s impeachment hearing. Mr. Trump’s tweet was exactly the kind of attack they had hoped to avoid.

WASHINGTON — Heading into Friday’s impeachment hearing, the Republican strategy for dealing with Marie L. Yovanovitch was simple: treat the ousted ambassador to Ukraine with respect during her testimony on Friday and avoid any appearance of bullying a veteran diplomat who had been vilified and driven from her post.

President Trump blew up the plan.

Ms. Yovanovitch had just begun to recount, in powerful and personal terms, the devastation and fear she felt when she learned Mr. Trump had attacked her during a July 25 phone call with the president of Ukraine. She was “shocked, appalled, devastated that the president of the United States would talk about any ambassador like that,” she said.

It was just the kind of human moment that Republican members of the House Intelligence Committee had anticipated — a political trap they were determined not to fall into. But they apparently didn’t anticipate how Mr. Trump would react.

Yeah, this guy's name will come up a lot in Vindman's testimony, because he was essentially pretending to be Vindman.

No way in hell he's willing to go someplace that will protest and boo him. He's looking for the adulation, and as far as it having any effect on the Rispone vote, it's enough for the citizens to know he came to their state. He did the same in MS. Skipped Jackson, where we lined the interstate and exit ramp all the way to the museum he was speaking at last time he showed up, and went 3 hours north to Tupelo where he is adored. Supporters in Jackson were still thrilled that he came to MS, regardless of where he spoke.
