Last I heard, the impeached lame duck gained 778 votes in Georgia.

So Biden's margin of victory will be around 13,000 votes.

Didn't that number come from a single county that found one batch (a single precinct?) of about 2,400 votes that had not been uploaded to the statewide tally?

IIRC, that was a human error in a deep red county, and the elections director in that county has been asked to resign.

Last night Biden's lead in PA went over 81,000 votes. Quite a while back I was doing some calculations using the estimated number of ballots still to be counted and the average percentage that were going to Biden. I had come to the opinion that his final lead could go over 80,000.

I am feeling good about that.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the margin went down a bit more. Apparently, in addition to the uncounted ballots in Fulton County, there was also a number of uncounted balance in DeKalb County, and:
The latest unofficial count puts Joe Biden 12,781 votes ahead of President Donald Trump, who gained over 1,000 votes this week that county election officials initially failed to count.

RTH, that video is very interesting. I laughed and laughed about it. I can actually see Trump believing he can make some kind of "deal" to concede.

Biden has beaten Trump by well over 5.9 million votes. This is not a trifling amount.

Very good interview. Mary has great insights and is wonderfully articulate.

electoral-vote.com make a good point here: Biden would have won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College if 44,000 votes had shifted in the correct election contests (AZ, GA, WI, NE-2).

Fewer than Clinton's loss in 2016.

Georgia recount is complete, Biden reaffirmed as winner

The recount in Georgia has finally been completed, and the results affirm Joe Biden's narrow lead over Donald Trump.

As many of you have pointed out, they were supposed to finish the hand count by 11:59pm on Wednesday, so 4:00pm AEDT , here in Australia. They were counting about 5 million votes, by hand.

This was an audit required by state law because the result was so close, not in response to any suspected problems with the state’s results or an official recount request.

The official results have just been posted on the Georgia Secretary of State's website.

My understanding is that while they were counting by hand, as an audit they were only counting a representative percentage of ballots, not all of 'em.

This is something not made clear by our media.

My understanding is that normally an audit is done on a fraction of the ballots that is large enough to obtain accurate results, but because the election was so close, the fraction would be very large. So the SOS decided that it would be more efficient to simply make the fraction 100% of the ballots. That way, they would not have to deal with the problem of correctly selecting the actual ballots to include in the fraction, just include them all.

I found an explanation of the Georgia audit of the presidential results:

AP: EXPLAINER: Is Georgia’s upcoming ballot ‘audit’ a recount?
Risk-limiting audits typically start with an initial sample of ballots. That sample increases depending on the level of discrepancies that are found. This kind of audit ends when either election officials reach a certain level of confidence that the outcome is correct or a full count has been performed. It is not meant to produce results that are an exact match to a previous tally.

But Georgia election officials say they will be reviewing every ballot to start. They say it will be easier for county officials to manage because the large number of ballots and the close margin are likely to result in a tally of every ballot anyway.

And because the final official count shows that Biden won by less than 0.5%, Trump can request a free recount, which would be done by scanners, not by hand. Will he?
