They should move the convention to San Francisco. We can accommodate them on Alcatraz Island for both the convention and their lodgings, then conveniently forget to send pick-up boats when it's over.
Let's think outside the box, what about Wuhan China for the GOP convention? since we all know that it is only a seasonal flu.
Hold the convention in Moscow. Putin will welcome them with open arms, same as he did when a large number of GOP pols visited Moscow over the Fourth of July a few years back.
I've heard this bull before.

Politico: North Carolina throws convention threat back at Trump and GOP

The state’s health department is asking the Republican Party for a plan on how it can pull off a 50,000-person event safely.

Have they been using AirBnB to get beds during the convention? Their hosts will be happy to know they will also be hosting the coronavirus for free and let it roam wildly among the host families.

I think it would be ideal. No face masks allowed. Trump needs to mingle with ALL the delegates.

With all of the cancelled events out there, it may be possible to secure multiple arena's to allow state delegations to gather in a large hall where they can still distance (and have a shorter trip). It is then a matter of placing screens up in the main facility to show those delegations along with giving the speaker an in-ear monitor to hear both the remote and the local cheering.

Too me, this would sound like a creative idea for accomplishing the task while still limiting the risk (much like we are doing for our future return to the church and the office). Trump would not go for it though because he wants one large filled room that is cheering for him. He does not believe COVID is a real problem and would not care if it was anyway.

We know the campaign doesn't pay the cities for the rallies, but does the RNC pay its bills?

GOP planning for 19,000 in attendance,
No, 19,000 DELEGATES. More like 50,000 total.

Every single one of them showing the world that they don't need to take precautions for the virus.

What could possibly go wrong?

Will the local workers (hotels, restaurants, caters, etc) for the convention receive hazard pay, health insurance and hefty paid-for life insurance policies?

North Carolina should pass. A live convention with 19,000 delegates, and the tens of thousands of others who come along and who serve them is madness. All you need is one superspreader and you've got 10,000 infected who return to their home towns.

Let Texas or Florida have the honor.

I suggest that the N.C. governor requires viable alternate candidates to be presented against individual-1. Else there is no need for a convention.

But without a massive convention, how on earth will we know who the Republicans choose as their Presidential candidate?
