Re: Wage Theft

Two minutes to lock the door behind you, no problem. Ten minutes to close the shop down? That should be done on the clock. Two employers I had drew the time at seven minutes. You could clock in or out within seven minutes of starting or quitting time and it was logged as regular hours. Even at that...

Re: Jobs

Looking for some generic advice. My current contract is up at the end of September. A current coworker that I have worked projects on had an interesting offer for when I am off contract. Without going into too much detail, I would be the tech writer for a project team but on a 1099 instead of W-2. ...

[Mormons'] belief that we are saved by works and faith, and not by faith alone. That's not particularly unusual for a Christian sect, is it? I know Calvinists have a reputation for being obnoxious with some sort of belief that who goes to heaven is predetermined so works don't matter, if...

I’m curious about this part of the US Code: a person of unknown parentage found in the United States while under the age of five years, until shown, prior to his attaining the age of twenty-one years, not to have been born in the United States; Does this apply to any of the unaccompanied minors? I ...

In other news, Alan Ward, the Murray State Athletics Director resigned. His interim replacement is Velvet Milkman (No, I'm not kidding, that's her actual name.)

Re: Bills to Abolish/Replace ICE

This just reminds me of the calls from the right to abolish the IRS, which I always found amusing. It's largely sounds good/bad, and it largely means nothing (as another agency would either be created or take over the responsibility of collecting taxes with largely the same people in it).

Re: Gay Rights - LGBT - Same Sex Marriage

After reading the majority opinion, there's actually a lot in here that can be quoted to advance civil rights to begin with. From Kennedy's opinion: "Our society has come to the recognition that gay personsand gay couples cannot be treated as social outcasts or as inferior in dignity and worth. For ...

Re: Gay Rights - LGBT - Same Sex Marriage

Quick question. With their ruling focusing on the bias of the Civil Rights Commission, why did they outright overrule the decision, rather than setting aside the ruling, and remanding it back to the Lower Court for a rehearing? That seems to me to be the right ruling, considering the course that the...

Re: Gay Rights - LGBT - Same Sex Marriage

It is a cheap decision : It merely rules that the baker didn't get a fair shake from the state, and not that the baker was correct. Punt punt punt: Kennedy knew he didn't have the votes, so it is a narrow ruling in an effort to salvage his legacy. Sad but true. If Kennedy didn't have the votes that...

Re: Poll On Trump Cancelling South Korea / US maneuvers

I'm going to say "No." because Trump is stupid enough to not realize that North Korea will use it as a reason to walk away. He still thinks that he will get a better deal than with Iran, and get North Korea to abide by it, and convince them that they won't walk away from this one. Kim Jong Un is pla...

Even if you consider the Panama Canal Zone to have been US territory at the time of his birth, it is my understanding that he was not born in the canal zone, but rather in a hospital in Panama City, which is clearly Panamanian territory. Both his parents were US citizens, however. Unless I'm wrong ...

Re: Electoral College, Gerrymandering, Inequality in Voting Power

This worries me greatly. A bill requiring a state's electoral college to vote according to the national popular vote will in reality only bind Democrats. If the Republicans win a majority of the state's votes, even when the national popular vote favors the Democrats, the state's electors in the ele...

Why did your first press secretary, Robert Gibbs, say that the “Certification of Life Birth” released by an unconfirmed individual on or about June 12, 2008, was the only “birth certificate” available to you as an individual allegedly born in Hawaii? YOU WOULD HAVE TO ASK GIBBS. But he probably ...

It seems like Gay Marriage and Gay Rights are getting much more acceptance within the society. Apparently the only two religious groups that have a majority opposing them are Evangelical Christians, and Mormons. This is an appointment for the Democrats to deny by filibuster. So, how would they do that? Right now, the Filibuster is only on legislation. The Obama era removed the filibuster for non-Supreme Court appointments, and the Republicans extended that to Supreme Court appointments. There is no filibus...

If I read the material correctly, the cake requested was from a display model, which means the cake was not going to be something specially, "artistically", made for them but rather a production item. One of the first things Missouri's new Republican governor did after he unpacked all his bondage gear was to pass a Right to Work law. They have already collected enough signatures to put repealing it on the November 2018 ballot. Should help drive Democratic turnout and help McCaskill. http://www.s...
