Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

As to white collar defendants, my understanding is that state prisons may not be quite as hospitable as many of the federal "country clubs." But I'm sure that isn't a point intended to weigh on the minds of certain Trump associates . . .

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

Napolitano of Fox News is offering a bit of a reality check on the "witch hunt/fake news" story line: Napolitano said the raid indicates the FBI did not trust that Manafort would preserve the materials they intended to find. "That is very damning for Manafort and for the president. .....

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

In an environment where there are leaks and even leaks about leaks, that the Manafort raid was kept under wraps for nearly two weeks is remarkable. I don't know what sort of neighborhood he resides, but even a pre-dawn raid would likely attract a good bit of attention.

I dont know who said this but I saw this graphoc on a forum and thought I'd share https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DF2r4dnUwAA71x-.jpg:large I read that if the Senate doesn't pass something in response to the AHCA by the end of the fiscal year, then to proceed under budget reconciliation the process wou...

Re: ACA/AHCA/BCRA, Medicaid, Medicare

This is just absurd. Sens. Graham, McCain and Johnson give a presser to say what a policy disaster and fraud the "Skinny Repeal" would be. And they won't consider voting for it UNLESS they first get ironclad promises from the House leadership that the House won't simply enact their Senate ...

Re: ACA/AHCA/BCRA, Medicaid, Medicare

I know it ain't over till it's over, but I'm feeling pretty bad about things. No one here is sleeping well tonight, for sure. Rand Paul was against the BCRA because it wasn't harsh enough. And he claimed he would only vote on the MTP if he could be assured that the Senate would take a vote on "...

I've read the decision on overruling the Parliamentarian comes down to Pence, who has no principles and no concern for trashing Senate tradition.

. . .President who very well may have such a meltdown before they return from recess that the first article of the next session could conceivably be Articles of Impeachment. Re: President Trump

Congress has reached a deal on the Russian sanctions bill. Does Trump veto and confirm his pro-Putin bias? Or sign it and chill the Putin bromance? It's that :pickle: thing again.

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

Is it possible for the Special Counsel to obtain Trump's tax returns without the S.C. or IRS having to first give notice to Trump or the Trump-related entity at issue? That is, is it possible the S.C. has already obtained them?

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

[T]rump will serve out his term and Republicans will probably still be in the WH and control both houses of Congress after 2018. I'm sorry, but that is how I see it. Republicans are now a victim of their own willingness to use Faux 'news' as their personal megaphone [.] If the R's hold onto both ch...

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

I agree with those saying no amount of evidence of Russian collusion or overt obstruction will cause Republicans in Congress (esp. House members) to take action. Even Trump polling down to 25 percent won't matter as that segment will still represent (to their mind) hard core primary voters. The only...

Re: ACA/AHCA/BCRA, Medicaid, Medicare

So now they're going to try repeal-only, and give themselves a couple of years to figure out what to do to replace it. It's not at all clear McConnell will have the votes for this either. "Repeal only" can't be passed in the Senate through reconcilliation. 50 votes to pass is highly doubt...

Re: ACA/AHCA/BCRA, Medicaid, Medicare

I'm hoping the new CBO score takes account of the Cruz amendment and forecasts a death spiral in the individual markets and even greater numbers of uninsured, or at least gives some eye-popping numbers for what will likely happen to sick and older Americans. IIRC, the CBO is going put out forecasts...
