Beautiful. That looks somewhat Japanesey to my very untrained, know nothing eye.

Everyone is so talented. I could, err, show you the curtains I made with the very wonky hems! Fortunately the rest of the house is wonky too so they fit right in.

Re: Bundy related gossip and discussion

Thanks for the info. Terrible that they couldn't have the gun charge stand alone. I'll get over it. Don'5 know when, but eventually I will get through the grieving process. I haven't decided if I will follow the NV trial or not. I don't think I could stand more not guilty verdicts. It boggles my mi...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

We travel mostly to and around Asia, so that might be the difference. In some countries it's easier to get in with US passport because Australians need more visas. When it comes to diplomatic help I don't think it makes a difference, the one time my husband was in a bad place and needed help, he and...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

It is a pain having to carry both passports every day to go to work and come home, but the Canadian passport invites much less hassle overseas than the US passport. I've heard that, but I've often wondered if it's true or just an urban legend. I've never had any problem travelling on my American pa...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

I love the fact that if things become deadlocked in Australia, they vote and dissolve the government and start over. Here, we sit and wait for 4-8 years...oh maybe two if people would get out and vote. That's a feature of parliamentary democracies, which are far more common than the US system of pr...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

Until we attain one world government under the U.S. style Constitution, I'm not enamored of dual citizenship, divided loyalty. It can reap bennies for those who claim it at the expense of the nation to one degree or another. I don't see any virtue in going there. JMO. I understand and appreciate th...

Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

I am intimidated being here. Hope everyone is patient with me because I will make mistakes so forgive me in advance. Anyway. I have been shaken to the core with this verdict. I have not been back to the oregonstandoff hashtag on twitter because after the verdict I got some nastygrams. I haven't eve...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

The State Department says: US law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one nationality or another . . . In order to lose US nationality, the law requires that the person must apply for the foreign nationality voluntarily, by feed choice, and with the intention to give up U...

Re: Obtaining New Citizenship

Since my post started this thing here's some background - I met my Mr in college. It was my first semester and he was an exchange student from Australia. It was only ever meant to be a fling, but ten months after he went home, I went to Australia to be with him. I went on exchange to Australia so th...

Thanks for all your kind and sensible words. I'm feeling better now, especially in light if poor behaviour today. My dad said words to the effect of, these people are so dumb it's just a matter of time before they end up back in jail, and next time the prosecutors will get it right. Given their appa...

Maybenaut, those are beautiful. We visit Thailand every couple of years (it's a cheap and easy holiday destination) but I've never thought of doing what you're doing. Of course, you are no doubt a much better seamstress than I am! I have two pieces of Burmese silk, the type Burmese women use to make...

This has shaken my faith. This afternoon I'm hosting a Halloween party for my children and some of their friends. I would cancel it if I could. Every year I host Thanksgiving for friends and family. I spend hundreds of dollars and several days cooking and baking. These are things I do so that my chi...

Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

Today feels like the death of American democracy. Allowing armed thugs to impose their will and their version of the law is failed state behaviour. The constitution is dead. No. The prosecutors stupidly played it safe and the judge got played. Happens. Won't happen again. What happens in Vegas will...

It's getting a little dusty in my house. Must be my allergies. :crying: (Tears of joy.) Keep the tissues handy. Re: Donald Trump 2016

I haven't voted at a polling station in the US in forever. My absentee ballot doesn't say anything about it being a crime to vote twice; I suppose they think everyone knows that, but maybe they should clarify it because there are a lot of idiots out there. I worked at a polling station in Australia ...

Re: Bundy related gossip and discussion

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Ryan and Ammon are polygamists... Although they do seem to think they are God's gift to the world, so, they might if they could. I was just trying to suss out if there was a connection between their ancestor's sect, Ammon's high school experience in Canada, and any...

Re: Bundy related gossip and discussion

Evidence against my theory: Cliven's grest grandparents Abraham and Ella Bundy joined the Mormon church after the ban on polygamy came into effect. (Lightweights. I have Mormon ancestors going back to the. 1830s.) That may not be terribly important, as some Mormons, even today, leave the LDS church ...

Re: Bundy related gossip and discussion

To be perfectly clear, I hate that the Bundys hide behind Mormonism and so I have a vested interest in writing this post, which is founded on the flimsiest of evidence. There is an FLDS community in Bountiful, BC. These are a breakaway sect that practise polygamy. I could not find any evidence of a ...

Currently I'm researching how Mormons locate a suitable marriage partner. Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

Obviously I'm hoping for guilty pleas. However, if Shawna Cox is found not guilty, can't they get a second shot at her by charging her with theft of government documents (the thumb drive?) Ammon and Ryan will face charges in Nevada, Mendenbach will likely be convicted of something one of these days ...

(uh, did I just time travel to the 1950s, who talks about Communists these days?) People who spend too much time listening to talk radio and reading Patriot web sites are convinced that there are thousands of Communists, all with a copy of "Rules for Radicals" sticking out of their back p...
