Re: Stingray technology used not only against terrorists

Well, I get that. So what's the solution then? No Stingrays ever? Or Someone Other Than The Police (under the Court maybe) owns and controls the Stingray to ensure use only when a warrant is issued? In my opinion, the problems aren't caused by the technology, they are examples of abuses by the poli...

Re: Stingray technology used not only against terrorists

I'm not sure what the problem was if they went to court and got it approved before they did it. I would assume there would be some record of that. That is the oversight and verification, is it not? Yes, in this case . The problem is that there could easily be (and probably are) hundreds or thousand...

Re: Stingray technology used not only against terrorists

Why can't you use the technology in which you have made a major investment in folks/training/etc? The cost of the unit is only the start. Need "certified" operators I would imagine as it may be used as ebidence. The problem isn't with the cost, but the implementation, from a privacy and civil right...

I get so sick of reading these complaints about how terrible it is to be imprisoned from the very same people who merrily call for all the scary dark people to be imprisoned and/or thrown out of the country. :violin:

Re: Bundy Trials - Oregon

I'm not against open courts. I'm against the undercurrent of jury intimidation. Perhaps I'm reading that into there myself though if no else sees it. It's a legitimate concern, but federal courts have ways of managing these things while still keeping the trial fundamentally open to the public. Mafi...

Re: An Army Captain Takes Obama to Court Over ISIS Fight

War Powers legislation is a tangle, and the current state of affairs probably does contradict the plain meaning of the Constitution. But it's also pretty apparent that the Judiciary as a whole views the entire issue as a political question that has to be sorted out between the Legislative and Execu...

Which, of cou...
