Re: Recipes!

I am going on an adventure. When I moved, I ended up "forgetting" (i.e., throwing away) my sourdough starter. I'd had it for so long, I'm not even sure if I remember where I got it from. And yes, a friend "gifted" me some starter. I just had to keep it fed with some rye flour on occasion. Made some ...

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

Can the questions be wide ranging? Or are they limited? Is a person that is summoned allowed to have a lawyer present? Or are they on their own?

Re: Mueller's investigation of Trump

I am going to willingly admit, right now, that I have no idea how these grand jury questioning things work. I have a vague idea: Someone is subpoenaed, they show up under penalty of severe pain, questions are asked by <who?>, Grand Jury peep have a Grand Slam or some Moons over My Hammy, and then......

I woke up angry and very annoyed with the room mates for some reason. All of them. Makes me kinda want to live alone again. :madguy:

Re: Hijack this thread

I talked to Ais a few minutes ago. The simple lease she put together for Auntie F for another purpose (the Spawn's SSDI) has a end date of 2.28.18. So, technically the lease ends at the end of February. But, she was planning on giving her a 30 day written notice. She's gone through this before with ...

Re: Hijack this thread

Some more "adventures in roommates" ranting ahead, so skip if you want. So, I've shared before that there are four of us in Ais' house: Myself, Ais, Auntie Fester, and the Spawn (Fester's adult daughter). The three of us moved in at the end of September. Well, on Saturday Ais had a talk with Auntie ...

Re: Congressional Committees: Re FBI's Independence

Isn't Steele a Brit? Even if the Congress decides to spend money on an investigation of him, what exactly can they do? Other than put him on a list of those not allowed in the country?

Re: The Stupid - It Burns!

When I moved from Texas to Ohio, I was overly paranoid about the height of the truck vs. height of the bridges. If I remember correctly, the clearance was 12 ft, or somewhere thereabouts. I planned a route where no bridge was lower than 14 ft.

Y'all need a tech writer, correct? I can, um.... write the procedures for... um... how the SECR uses their machine? I mean, customized procedures are always good, yes?

Re: Weather Alerts

It was -10 this morning. Even Lola wasn't happy about going outside. She's not quite sure what to make of the snow quite yet. Supposed to be a balmy 12 degrees above today.

On the other hand, it's even colder in my home town right now.

Re: Hijack this thread

I'm not too concerned about passing a security clearance. I've led a very boring life. No criminal history. No arrests. pay my taxes. one bankruptcy and foreclosure several years ago, but nothing that I would consider a red flag. References might be a bit more problematic. Does it have to be people ...

I've got about 8 months or so left on my contract, therefore, I'm starting the job search. I'll apply for about one a week for now, until I get closer to needing an actual position. Found one I'm very qualified for except for one small detail: Requires an active security clearance. So, catch-22. You...

Thin cables, not sure if the sprays would be effective, unless I spray a cloth of somekind first then wipe down the cables on occasion. That might work. I know the bitter apple stuff never worked with Lola. I think she actually liked the taste, as a couple of pairs of shoes and one purse can attest ...

Re: No Catz but Kate's OK

Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a dog person. Cats, well, just really aren't my thing. But, my roommate has two, so I deal and live on Allegra. I need advice from the cat persons here though. One of her cats (very aptly named Trouble) is very fond of chewing on cords. Especially mine. I had st...

I say this with all the anger of someone that lives paycheck to paycheck: Fuck that family and the boat they sailed in on. $400 for an emergency? Is that all? Is that what these fuckers think constitutes an emergency? I need to get to a doctor because of perirectal issues again. But I don't have the...

The Beast brought not only her Spawn with her when she moved here, she also brought cockroaches. The things are popping up in the basement (where some of her boxes are) and the kitchen. We washed everything down with bleach water, scrubbed every surface we can get to, put down traps, and still we ar...

Re: Recipes!

Rotisserie chickens from the supermarket also work great if you don' t have time to cook chicken and you need it for filling, like chicken salad, etc. I've also just dumped chicken breasts in 1/2 water, 1/2 chicken broth and some herbs then boiled/poached them until they were done. Makes a decent p...

San Francisco Mayer Ed Lee, heart attack at age 65

Some of the comments and posts I'm seeing are truly vile because of the Steinle case and his stance on Sanctuary Cities.

The S.O. recently got a new kittie, and the day he brought him home, he lost his older kittie. Toby had some health issues (feline Crohn's is the best way to describe it) so, in a way, it's a blessing that he is no longer in pain. Of course, Jim was, and still is to an extent, upset about Toby's pas...

ASU has some of the few respected full-online programs. Just make sure you don't confuse ASU in Phoenix with that other online school that has "Phoenix" in its name.... :-) Western Governors University also has some respected online programs, if you want to look at another option... Speaking of colleges... Now that I'm getting settled here in Dayton, my mind it starting to turn towards finally finishing school. When I left DFW, I was 3 classes shy of my Associates: Math, Science, and the "Don't be an Asshole" Awareness* class. It all came down to time and money, because all thr...

Well, the insurance adjuster just left. My claim was denied. If I would have had a BUSD endorsement, it would have been covered. Dawn is checking to see if she has that endorsement on her home owner's, but she probably doesn't. So, next steps I guess. Need to figure them out since I don't have to ta...

And I'm NOT OLD . I want to make that very, very clear. I am NOT OLD either! Honest to goodness, when I was a child, 65 was OLD. All those old folks liked old music and old clothes and, most of all, thought old thoughts. But now that I'm turning 65, my mind doesn't feel any different than I w...
