Re: Jobs

Many of the TSA at airports are facing a 30% paycut by September. They are getting rid of retention bonuses, shift differentials, and a few other things. They barely make a livable wage as it is.

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Just found out that a friend of mine was exposed to the virus thanks to a co-worker that couldn't be bothered to practice social distancing. He continued to visit friends and family and go out on the town until they shut everything down. The co-worker tested positive this morning. J was informed thi...

It saddens me that these two aren't just some elaborate performance art piece/LARP. I guess it is true that everyone has their price.

Re: My mom passed away yesterday

:bighug: :bighug: I know the "guilt" about feeling relief. My mother passed away in 2014 after many years battling MS. The last few years she lost the ability to walk, talk, or care for herself in the most simple ways. The last few times I was able to see her, I could see the pain in her eyes and in...

Re: Is Anyone Just Tired?

Tired is a good way to put it. But then again, I've been tired for 30+ years. Things haven't changed much for me in the last few months. I work from home anyway, so that hasn't changed. What did change is my roommate started working from home. And probably will until at least the end of the month. H...

Sounds like it could be fun. Gonna have to load it on the Mac, it's the only thing I have a web cam on. :)

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Finally heard from the SO last night. (Quick background: He lives in Seattle and works at SEA-TAC.) He's sick. Hoping it's just a cold. Snot production off the charts (his words). Coughing. Slight fever. I told him to get his ass to a hospital. He said he's fine and it sounds worse than it is. :bore...

Re: On a Personal Level--Coronavirus COVID-19 Cancellations, etc.

Just got back from the dentist (had my permanent bridge installed). He is gowned, gloved, masked, double hair net, and shoe booties. They are only seeing one person at a time. If you have an appointment (which unless it's an emergency or something like what I had, you are SOL), you call when you get...

Re: What are you doing to stay sane on your Staycation?

I should have mentioned: I am kinda introverted, though I do like getting out once in awhile for human contact. Mostly complete strangers in stores I will never see/have to talk to again. And my room mate is also working from home so I do not have my normal daily solitude. I think that is what is sl...

Re: What are you doing to stay sane on your Staycation?

Living my life in its normal fashion. I work from home and rarely go out. The messed up knee put a kibosh to my exercise classes a couple of weeks ago (strained ligament, bone spur on knee cap, arthritis) so, really, nothing has changed.

I'm going insane, in other words.

Got the email from the poll worker coordinator this morning. No election. Stay home. So I have.

Have the day off from work and feeling just a tad guilty about it, but still gonna enjoy the day off and get some work done around the house.

Ohio has closed: Restaurants (dine in only; delivery/carry out still available for now) Any gathering of more than 50 people Primary election set for March 17 postponed to June 2 Schools A friend just texted me a bit ago asking if I think there will be an election in November. My response was there ...

Ohio is still holding their primary on March 17. At least I was called this afternoon to verify that I am still going to be working the polls that day.

Just checked my score (use Credit Karma). Up 28 point on Equifax and 21 points on TransUnion. Seems to jump a couple of points when I prefer from Fingerhut then pay it off. May order some bath towels.

It was horrific when doctors restricted vicodin. Fortunately, I had a doctor who fought for me to continue pain relief. I don't think I've taken vicodin, but another opioid, after surgery. I don't like it as it makes me woozy. I found taking a small dose pretty much resets pain and I don't need mor...

Re: Sarah Palin (R-Nobody) 2016

I don't watch much network tv and when I first heard of the Masked Singer, during the Superbowl, I assumed it was one of those wacky Superbowl commercials. I was assured it was not. Now I find that Sarah Palin was one of the singers. I stand by my original assumption. It's actually one of the few s...

A few days ago, I went to a Orthopedic specialist (walk in clinic actually) because I haven't been able to bend my left knee without being in excruciating pain.Walking is about the same. Luckily I had a can handy from when I twisted my ankle. Turns out I have arthritis, strained ligaments, and a sma...

I knew who Max von Sydow was as an actor. I also knew him as the voice of Esbern, a character (rather important, too) in Skyrim.

I never have been able to bring myself to kill Paarthunax though, even though he never spoke to me again, in game.

I have had credit cards in the past, but got rid of them several years ago. I do have a Fingerhut account that I will but something smallish, usually for the office, then pay off within 2 months if not immediately. My score is actually quite good, but not perfect. I know how credit scores work. One ...

Gonna necro an old thread from last year just to give y'all a feel for where I'm at. It's been good. Great even. My 401k is singing along just fine (though it seems to have lost a little bit the last quarter, less than 1%, but it's long term you need to look at with those, so not panicking). I have ...

The new computer arrived late last week, a few days early, which made me very happy. Though I wasn't prepared so didn't have a new desk for the area. The one I was using was very wobbly. The legs had gotten soaked when the basement flooded and were splitting. It was held together using cardboard and...

I can't do VR, sadly. My vertigo goes nutty and I get nauseous. So, I play my MMOs and RPGs.
