Re: Hijack this thread

I begin with Evil Bank 2 on April 29. They finally got the ducks in a row. :)

They are going to pay me more than I asked for. Double Bonus!

Re: Hijack this thread

So, the psycho room mate we had and evicted has been having further adventures with the legal system. On a whim (and driven by boredom) I checked a couple of county court sites to see if she had anything pending. I knew of one charge that she had for fleeing the scene of an accident, but also ran ac...

Re: Online Restaurant Food Delivery - DoorDash, Postmates, Uber Eats, Direct Order - How Much Do You Tip?

I drive for Door Dash. We've used DD and Grub Hub in the past. I typically tip 20%. Roommate usually about 15%. The tips and delivery charge are how we get paid (It's on 1099). I can tell you the following: Teenager ordered a smoothie from a local smoothie joint Smoothie cost is $4.99 on website. I ...

Re: Jobs

Step one of being hired at Evil Bank 2 has been completed. Today was the HR screening call. Guy sounded almost bored, but legally they have to interview two other people (three in total) before hiring me. I'm hoping things go quickly.

Re: Hijack this thread

I officially applied for the job at Evil Bank 2. They had one out there for me, then decided that one was the wrong one, so took about a month to get another one posted out there for me to apply for. Finally got done today. So, bad news: There is no way in this universe that they will be able to get...

Re: Vaccinations & Dangers of Anti-Vaxxers

My brother and I got the chicken pox around the same time. He brought it home from school in 1st grade, I was about 3/almost 4. He had what could be called an "average" case. I had it really bad. My mother had taken pictures of me. I was one big walking pox. There were very few places on my body tha...

Re: Hijack this thread

As long as the stars align (and HR gets off their collective butts) a job that was requisitioned for me at Evil Bank 2 will be posted for me to apply for tomorrow or Monday. My manager gave me the range they would be wiling to pay for the position, and it would end up being a 10-15k/year raise. I th...

Re: Recipes!

The burger balls turned out great! I will try to upload a pic of one of them later. It's on my phone and it's being stubborn about transferring. So here is the (sorta recipe): *Disclaimer: I rarely measure anything. The only thing I'm sure of is the number of eggs and the amount of hamburger.* Meatb...

Re: Recipes!

I have some hamburger thawed in the fridge, so trying to figure out what to do with it. Then I remembered seeing a video where they made small meatballs, put them in hollowed out buns, then topped them with cheese and marinara. Got to thinking: We don't have any buns and it's too late in the day to ...

I want to apologize ahead of time if this seems ageist, but I really think we need newer blood to run. Fresher ideas. I think the same about Biden, though I think he would be great.

Is that just me?

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Just tested the machine to see how off the timing is. It's not. What I think happened was he had the tension way up on 6/7 when he tested it, so it was pulling the bobbin correctly. I changed it to 4, loaded some thread and the bobbin that was in there and it sewed just fine. Nice even stitches. Not...

Now that I have a bed. Bit further East, and IF the bank gets off their butt and converts me to full there is a very good chance I could drive in. It's only about a 9 hour drive.

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

I am the proud new owner of a White model 1855 which I picked up for $25. It was so cheap because the timing is off, which isn't that difficult to adjust.

Yay me!

Now to find a quilting foot for this model.

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Haven't heard back from anyone about sewing machines for sale that I found, including a Janome for $100. I did see an antique Singer (106 years old) treadle machine for $100. Tempted. It's identical to the machine my Grandmother used to make clothes for the family when my mother was growing up. But,...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

That is great JMJ! When my dad was stationed in West Germany (yes, that long ago) we used to have small craft classes put on by DODDS. There was ceramics and leatherworking and other stuff. I remember doing ceramics (My dad still has the tree my mom made) and I made a wallet and belt. It was a lot o...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Just found a White sewing machine (Model 1855) for $50 on Craigslist. Sent an email hoping it's still available. It looks very sturdy and high enough to shove a rolled portion of a quilt under the main body of the machine.

Good price. Seems to be a good machine? Yes?

Re: What are you reading lately?

The significant other gets me a book every valentine's day (amongst other things). This year's book is Alamut by Vladimir Bartol. It is a novel set in 11th Century Persia and is (in a nutshell) about a group called the Hashshashin, which is where the word Assassin derives from. He thought I would en...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

I love your wordiness. :bighug: I don't think I am going to to use solids. There are some huge blocks of a single color and I am not sure how that would look. I was thinking of getting some patterned fabrics. For example, yellow background with dots, small swirls, flowers, etc. Could help break up t...

Because nothing can ever go smoothly.... My PC decided to take a nose dive. Well, the power supply on my PC did. I'm happy I have the laptop backup so I can still work on stuff, such as my quilt layouts, but I have to put off buying the sewing machine. Money (some of it) went towards the power suppl...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

After reading a ton of websites, reviews, talking to other sewing type people that I know, taking into account my own experiences, and price points, I have decided on getting the Singer 4452. It seems like a solid machine and I've read good things about it. It doesn't do a ton of fancy stitches, whi...

Re: Weather Alerts

It's raining with occasional lightening and thunder boomers. And with heavy rain come water in the basement. We have a couple of leaks on two walls that will not/cannot be sealed. So, a bit of water gets in when it rains heavy. I just keep an eye on it and continue on with life. It's not as bad as i...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

I have been obsessed with Kristen Cooper's temp scarves since I first saw them. She uses 5 degrees for her color increments, but you can change that to use fewer colors. You can also buy sweaters at the thrift store to unravel for more yarn colors. It won't be long before the thrift stores are clea...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Nice on the room, RV! I have a basement I plan on taking over. My desks that I work at are in one corner (personal PC and work laptop) and I'm thinking the other corner, with a couple of tables and some shelves, could be the crafting area. If I'm crocheting or knitting, it will probably be with me u...
