Re: North Korea

I would be shocked were the military to push for war. The officers that I have known hate war. They see it as a last resort and proof of failure.

Civilians are another matter. So might have been Patton.

Re: Trump Cemetery

Trump does not have the power to destroy this country. Trump with the Senate and House Republicans do not have the power We can destroy it — all of us Americans. Sure, the catalyst could be Trump and his enablers. Sure, many things are perverted in our politics. We might see one or even two historic...

Re: Shutdown 2018

We learned in November 2016 that polls are not always good predictors of what people will think and do in the near future. I am still worried.

It is absurd for Pelosi to criticize Republicans for going to Davos.

I have turned for a while to the Father “Blackie” Ryan detective series by Father Andrew Greeley. This is the detective novel equivalent of rice pudding, comfort reading written by a wonderful man. O

Re: Obama Presidential Library & Foundation

I am not sure that the architectural drawings and landscaping plans that are now shown are accepted. If this is what is to be built I am concerned. I view President Obama as a modest man. The design of the museum (the tallest of three structures) is anything but modest. I do not think that President...

I have trouble seeing how the Democrats will benefit from a realized shutdown. The more likely response of citizens will be “a plague on both your houses.”

Speaking of chain migration, Melania, who has no known skills, brought in her sister and parents. I await Trump denouncing this chain migration. She’s a not-too-shabby clothes hanger. And probably a fabulous luncher. From what can see, she is also a good mother for Barron. Keeping him out of sight ...

So do we know what happened with dogs and cats that suppressed or removed the tendency to return to the wild? I would guess that eons of natural selection, not genetic alteration, did the trick.

The Palestinians lost my sympathy when Arafat walked away from the best deal they were ever going to get at Camp David.
Give them another chance. That mistake was decades ago.

I would probably have suspected Clinton of some kind of trick.

Re: Resolution to Censure President Trump: Re "Shithole"

It is not the use of that obscenity that matters. It is the racist thinking that enabled Trump to say it. We do not want racists in positions of power in this country. Our history is already badly stained by generations of racists — people in power who are prejudiced against persons of African, Nati...

Re: Fogbow Arts and Crafts Club

Many Halloweens have passed, as have many New Years and many religious holidays. So perhaps I am ready to discuss the holiday that is most meaningful to me, Halloween. I am not a witch or a sorcerer. Nor do I see apocalypse due at some Halloween. This was my ex-wife’s favorite holiday, and her enth...

One usually does not have to worry about lap cats at 36,090 feet (this is now a low altitude for private jets!). In private or presidential jets be sure to select a provider with cuddly cats. You will sleep better. Good wine also matters. Pork rinds are optional as GW showed us.

Re: Resolution to Censure President Trump: Re "Shithole"

Is the US president any longer the most powerful person in the world? I doubt it. Of course, having the largest nuclear stockpile still means something. But what can any president do with that? Bomb North Korea to the opprobrium and distress of every other country and most Americans? Power no longer...

Bill Maher is an Asshole too. I completely agree although our political views may be similar. I saw him in person once (at a CT casino) and decided that he was uninterested in changing our hearts and minds. You don’t do that by yelling at people or by offending them. We had a radio host in Hartford...

The puma is a beautiful animal, and I would love to have it nuzzle me too. I see nothing that hints of a reversion to the wild. Yet every time that I have read of people adopting wild animals such as cuddly lion cubs there has been a warning of reversion to the wild when the animal becomes adult. Is...

Or, they could just ban high clearance vehicles from that route altogether. That is how the low bridges on Robert Moses’ parkways from Connecticut and Westchester County to the city are protected. It also makes the parkways more pleasant to drive than the Interstates. That does not prevent box truc...

Stern has often expressed some trepidation about having cats in his vicinity. This is not an unusual perspective on our feline overlords. It is time to fix this problem.
