Re: Louisiana Governor 2019

I think Edwards wins by about 35,000. Orleans is heavily Democratic (90-10) and with less than half the vote reported in that parish Edwards is ahead about 70,000 to 7,000. East Baton Rouge is 2-1 Democratic and only half its precincts have reported. Edwards has a 30,000 vote lead there.

Re: Louisiana Governor 2019

Orelans and Caddo Parishes could still tip the scales for Edwards. The margin will be razor thin.

Why on Saturday? This is Lose-ee-anna.

The Nazis were fastidious record keepers. They wanted to document what they did for future generations. Most societies keep records. Until they become "inconvenient." But that realization is usually too late.

There are no zoning laws in most of Texas. This is the wild west. (They don't need no stinkin' regulations.)

Maybe someone could help Small out and send him this: The Electoral College is a process, not a place. The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens...

I find Stone's shirt collars really annoying. He won't have to worry about keeping them pressed for the next several years. (I hope.)

While Sondland should assert his Fifth Amendment right not to incriminate himself, he may try to clean up the mess he has made on aisle 5 by spilling the beans. I think he may do that since refusing to testify at this point is politically impossible. Sometimes, correcting one's testimony during a pr...

Re: The "Planned Parenthood is Selling Body Parts" video

Do there have to be actual damages? I think it’s a defamation thing so isn’t defamation enough? I don’t know the rules. Yes. As a matter of constitutional law (!) there have to be actual damages to support an award of punitive damages. And from what SLQ has posted it looks as if those damages may b...

Re: The "Planned Parenthood is Selling Body Parts" video

What were actual damages? A trier of fact (judge/jury) can't just award punitive damages. And such damages must bear a reasonable relationship to actual damages. (These days for something like this, maybe 1 or 2 times actual damages.)

Re: Intelligence/Judiciary Impeachment Investigation: Trump Obstruction; Suborning Perjury; Whistleblower(s)

I'm looking forward to "Ambassador" Sondland's testimony next week, including the attempted clean up (or attacks -- pick one) by the Republicans. If Sondland has half a brain, or listens to his lawyers, he should invoke his Fifth Amendment privilege and refuse to testify. But politically he may not ...

Stone can still flip and reduce his sentence.

But I doubt he has anything of value to offer.

Ugh. Appendix G to the cert. petition is Cyrus Vance's agreement not to enforce the subpoena should Trump petition for cert. until after the Supreme Court denies the petition or rules against Trump.

Vance is a wimp.

Possibly. But there's already someone with the perfect credentials in case the nominee is a white woman. Cory Booker.
