We used to have lots of day lilies, too. But something ate off all the blooms before they opened, too. I thought it might have been the deer, but it surprised me because the deer have been around here forever, but left them alone for a long time. Same here, the green leaves still grow but the buds ...

It's opportunistic, and generally an indicator of poor soil. ie: the only thing that can succeed. But, they are a soil builder. So, given enough dec...

Re: Racism back in fashion, did it ever fade?

I had to go to the shop today and on the way home I was sitting at a light and looked over and there was a big black pickup truck with a confederate flag on the back window in the next lane, which is nothing new for these parts of Virginia. But as traffic started to move I could see this guy had big...

Go for it! I quit twice, first time I was young and having kids, second time I was older, got divorced and started smoking again. Both times I attribute my success to having something to do with my hands. I was crocheting all sorts of blankets and stuff and it kept my hands busy. (Enter thumbs up sm...

Re: Other Pets

My dearly departed sister loved fish tanks. She was mentally handicapped and never got mentally older than her 5 year old self. I had custody of her for her last 11 years of life. Such a goober she was and that bloody fish tank was a pain in the ass, but well worth the enjoyment she got from it. (En...
