Re: Creationism and other anti-science movements

I think the Flat Earth thing is not explicit in Scripture but inferred from Heaven always being “above” and Hell “below.”

Four corners? So, earth is not even a pizza pan but a mere cookie sheet? Crimini! The very thought!

Re: Creationism and other anti-science movements

I honestly don't know if these guys are serious or not, or just big fat trolls. Its probably a mix of the two. I thought they were probably smart people gulling stupid people until reading above about the Creationist connection. Now I fear they may really subscribe to this lunacy. The way Poots abu...

What a great result. I've been holding on to a Da Vinci until the market ticks up, guess now it's a good time to sell.
(Where's the smilie for "Wake up, you're dreaming"?)
Yes, but look closer. That one’s by Bernie Da Vinci!

Re: Another Shooting

I’m not convinced hiding the body is necessarily a sign of feelings of guilt per se... a sociopath can know they’ve done something “against the rules” and take steps to avoid punishment. And some people know right from wrong, but just don’t care. Perhaps the reality that once you’ve killed a family ...

Re: Resolution of Inquiry Re Impeachment; Commission to Declare President Incapacitated Re 25th Amendment

Newsday - OpEd Founding Fathers designed impeachment for someone like Trump Their writings and debates surrounding the creation of the Constitution make clear that the framers feared a certain kind of character coming to power and usurping the republican ideal of their new nation. Having just defea...

Re: Gay Rights - LGBT - Same Sex Marriage

As soon as it's legal, of course, I'm going to have to divorce my husband and find me a woman to marry. What? Now that gay marriage is legal, doesn't that mean we all have to marry people who are our same sex? Of course not. That's silly. It just means one of you will have to get a sex-change opera...

I disapprove of the job the minority is doing. I don't give a flying f--- that they lack the power to get legislation passed; I want to see them trying more anyway. I like much of the Better Deal platform, but where's the legislative language? Have they introduced bills? (I just looked at the offic...

Read a very powerful article in the current Atlantic by Caitlin Flanagan. In this period when powerful men are losing their jobs for sexual assaults, what does Bill Clinton owe the nation? Nothing. He has been exposed and punished already for his (eventually) admitted dalliance with Lewinsky; his o...

For one thing, this setup dates from when communication meant phone calls. Now that communication is practically speed-of-light, the pres acting autonomously is no longer necessary.

And now, with this president, it's lunacy.

I read that Rouhani said there were building regulations in place mandating earthquake-resistant construction, but they appeared to have been widely ignored in the region.

He sounded angry. Over there, "heads will roll" is not just a metaphor.

Nothing. What he did cannot remotely be termed “sexual assault.” What he did was consensual adultery (if you define blowjobs as sex, which— duh!— is correct). And then lying about it. That’s it. Knowing Ryan he'll do something dumb and end up back in prison. Poots claim Angie gets to drive him to the halfway house. That sho...
