Re: Kavanaugh hearings: Avenatti casually tossing bombs

I think Orlylicious identified the kernel of the issue with the phrase "like it or not". Of course Gregg and Mike are correct in wishing to play according to the rules of common decency but being perfumed knights with shining breastplates when the opponents have machine guns and stink bombs is a lo...

is it just me or does that farmer (one standing in the field in front of the silos) appear to be wearing a holster? I didn't realize crime was so bad in those areas one has to carry all the time.

The people arguing that such categories of people are not "subject to the jurisdiction" really don't understand what that means and what the consequences of their position are. Subject to the jurisdiction basically means that the state (whatever level of government at issue, fed, state, local) has s...

I believe that there have been some changes to UK libel law to make it friendlier for the alleged libeler, but MikeD knows much more about the subject.

Why didn't Kap use one of his Special Forces moves on the arresting officers?

Solely out of his Christian concern for the well being of others. He realized that a mere demonstration of his powers could cause harm, so he didn't use them.

Re: Stephanie Clifford aka Stormy Daniels v Donald J. Trump aka David Dennison, U.S. District Court, Central California

Another two cents: The only way I see for a complete resolution of this matter would be for Cohen/EC/Cliffords and Trump, on behalf of himself and all of his entities/alter egos, to execute comprehensive mutual settlement and release agreements, which IMO is damned unlikely to happen. Cliffords want...

Re: Stephanie Clifford aka Stormy Daniels v Donald J. Trump aka David Dennison, U.S. District Court, Central California

My two cents: 1. IIRC, Trump, or an alter ego thereof, joined in one of the motions filed with this court. If so, he effectively made himself a party to the action; 2. It is ultimately Cliffords' decision, and hers alone, in her sole and absolute discretion, whether or not to accept Cohen's offer. A...

Only if you want to goose Republican turnout. Democrats and anti-Trumpers are already energized. Last-minute indictments will just piss off Trump's base and drive them to the polls. This raises and interesting question.... the appearance of wrong doing tends to discourage democrats while energizing...

Re: "Fear: Trump in the White House" by Bob Woodward - 9/11 Release

I have very mixed feelings. 1) Obviously, this is bad for Trump. Lots of juicy, on-the-record quotations about how he's an idiot and so on. 2) That being the case, I think a lot of voters priced that into Trump when they voted for him. Those voters were - and remain - so pissed off at absolutely ev...

IMHO, justice is not about getting the last pound of flesh. Perhaps Jefferson Beauregard Sessions would disagree, but I stand my ground. These are not normal times or normal people. If putting Manafort through a third trial will make him turn on the tyrant it's the right thing to do. I think that's...

Smart decision would be "no." I do not agree. I think the people deserve to extract the last pound of flesh from this crook. It might also further encourage him to flip.
