Re: President Trump
What a child. The White House wanted the USS John McCain "out of sight" during Trump's visit to Japan, WSJ reports. U.S. military officials worked to ensure Trump would not see the warship that bears the name of the late senator McCain. The ship is named after two admirals, John McCain' s...

Gahhhh......so tired of medical stuff! Bryndan's recovery from the surgery is not progressing as well as expected or hoped, my oldest daughter broke her hand playing roller derby in Brazil and is having some issues with that, and Aidan has spent the last 3 hours sitting in the ER with a pulse rate ...

An incident where a woman drove a stolen RV through the San Fernando Valley made news internationally yesterday. I fell in my walker Monday, and didn't seem hurt, but by Tuesday afternoon, my back started hurting and the daytime caregiver said I should go to Kaiser Urgent Care to be sure I didn't b...

Small point - during the Vietnam war era, Fallon was a NAAS, not a NAS. It was upgraded to a NAS in 1972. I was sent to AFS Fallon , an Air Force radar and BUIC command and control center located within NAAS Fallon, in January 1970, to perform "blue suit training". This was a project wher...

When I was working in Fallon, NV, I noticed that the liquor store carried 190 proof Everclear. The owner explained that the ranchers and shepherds in the region would carry it and they had plentiful water sources to dilute it.

Fantastic news, Sugar! Steroids are amazing drugs. My brother manages to get rare diseases that are autoimmune and he just finished three years of treatment where he started with I think 40 mg of prednisone and finally tapered off before stopping a week or so ago. There are side effects, but when yo...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats
I wasn’t listening carefully enough, but my brother was. Today I checked with the Oncologist. Treatment is only four days - 96 hours of continuous chemotherapy. After that I’ll be in the hospital roughly 3 or four weeks while they monitor my condition and deal with getting things back to normal like...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats
In oncology ward room 4006 for what will hopefully be 3 (or was it 4?) weeks of inpatient chemo. Shorter would be bad news - either it was a failure or I couldn’t manage the side effects.

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats
I wish there was a way for your brother to sneak Gracie in for a visit or three. Or maybe you can plot with your niece to get that visit from Gracie. Hospitals are boring and lonely places. I’m sort of moving in the opposite direction. I’ve suggested that my brother take Gracie to San Diego so that...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats
There’s still hope, however small. The oncologist said there’s a chemo combination that might work but would require weeks of hospitalization. I felt this was better than trying to get to San Diego into hospice and waiting to die, or being home where I’m basically a lump on the sofa. So I’ll move to...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats
Not looking good. The hospitalist said what can only be described as bad news. My cousin is quick to point out that hospitalists are not experts in anything and just generalists, and I need to hear from the oncologist. However, the hospitalist indicated that the chemo will probably be more and more ...
