Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

Shingles update: by and large, mostly gone. A couple of the larger shark bites are still lumpy, and quite pink, but not sensitive to touch. The smaller ones have healed into dark scars. Looks like I was peppered with bird shot. The burning is gone, along with the big zingers. I haven't used the gab...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

Excellent news Vic. Thank you for sharing that. What are you doing to occupy your time? Well, the visits to kaiser take a lot - I was scheduled this week to be there four days (Tuesday Oncologist, Wednesday Nephrologist, and chemo on Thursday and Friday, along with lab tests on Thursday). The docto...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

I was a bit premature with the good news regarding pain management. Last Thursday was great - first night I slept well (or at all) in weeks. And Friday started great - I felt good and walked quickly from the car to the oncology office. I got as far as the entrance to the building when I felt a bit l...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

I should mention, that after telling my neighbor what I had packed in the bag, he said I would have made things easier if I started by googling what expectant mothers are told to pack for their hospital trip. I think his having four children, and 9 grandchildren, gave him some insight which I lack. ...

I hope things continue to go well. She sounds like one smart doctor. In my twenties, I went through a lot of major surgery. One of the first things I was told and it was a lesson quickly learned was that it was much better to stay on top of the pain than to go back and try to get it back under cont...

Re: Aging - it's not for fraidy cats

The pain from my broken ribs has been getting worse the past few weeks and by last weekend I couldn't sit for more than 30 minutes before pain in the back was unbearable. I also had periods where the skin on my upper chest would feel like it was burning. And I couldn't sleep in my bed - lying on my ...

Oh wow!! Shimon Prokupecz ‏Verified account @ShimonPro 1m1 minute ago ]Judge TS Ellis before giving Manafort his sentence noted he "lived an otherwise blameless life ," was a good friend and generous person to others. That doesn't erase his crimes however Ellis said. Blameless? So he's not ...

How long before Orly or one of the other birthers says this means that 8 years of laws are void?
The operative word in my post was "this". Or are you saying that birthers could predict the future?

My best trip on the Coast Starlight was from Los Angeles to Seattle where we arrived 12 hours late. Normally the train would go past Mount Shasta in the night, but we were late enough to see it in the first light of dawn.

For some reason, the first time I hit your link I got the home page of the paper. So I just have one question: MEAT AUCTIONS?? Not meat auctions. Meat raffles. That was an interesting article - The meat raffle: Everything you need to know about Minnesota's weirdest bar game . Basically, a large num...

My staircase had a handrail on only one side. Going up, the handrail on the right until it ended in the ceiling of the first floor, then on the left for the upper half. There was no handrail on the two-step landing where the stairs turn around. Further, because of the way the lower handrail ended, t...

My husband was just telling me about a co-worker who claimed he lives on a road with a 43% slope. That sounded a bit extreme, so I looked up 'what is the steepest road in Seattle' and found this: 43% slope? Drive on I-80 near Truckee, CA. That piece of road is signed as a 6% slope. You'll soon real...

What Listme said. I don't have Native American ancestry, but I had two cousins who did. Their mother was a tribal member, but they fell below the threshold for membership since their father (my uncle) had no Native American ancestry. I only knew one of the cousins well (his twin brother died when he...

My 2008 Nissan Altima Hybrid requires a smog certification this year. Originally, hybrid vehicles in California didn't need a biennial smog certificate, but that changed in April, 2015. I don't drive much - current mileage is around 19,000. In the past I've typically driven at most about 3,000 miles...

Re: GEDmatch, DNA, genealogy. Help me Obi-wan Slarti

There were a couple of articles sometime last year about how even the DNA testing companies' staffs admit that the retail-level DNA testing they do is neither consistent nor substantially accurate: more fun than factual. Said articles included accounts by staffers telling how certain customers, dis...

"I hear you, broseph."
You can always watch Howdy Doody and it would be more educational.
I watched two episodes of the Lone Ranger and then switched to the Simpsons.
