Re: New Diseases - Coronavirus

I've been watching our numbers closely, and you'll notice that although they continue to call Washington a hotspot, there haven't been any news stories about Washington in a while. Cautious optimism: KIRKLAND, Wash. — The suburban hospital that handled the first onslaught of coronavirus patients wee...

Apparently Steve Mnuchin was on TV this morning claiming that the $1200/person in the relief package was plenty to get everyone by for 10 weeks. I'd really love to see that smug, rich asshole subsist on $17/day, because I would be my last penny he couldn't do it.  https://shoeunt...

Re: What are you doing to stay sane on your Staycation?

I'm watching Julia Child's The Way to Cook on Youtube. Basics, which suits the way I cook these days, where it's just me. I'm currently on the poultry episodes. I ordered the companion cookbook off of Amazon, used. At least I can support an indy used book store.

What exactly should Deb do then? Trash Trump so he replaces her with someone less qualified?
There's a lot of room in between false effusive praise and trashing him. How about just giving her reasoned opinion about the facts? In trumpworld, that's apparently not acceptable.

Sorry, Gav. Your bastion of freedom just morphed into tyranny: Mexican president toughens stance, tells people to stay home Mexico's president urged people to stay indoors to prevent an "overwhelming" spread of coronavirus, taking his strongest stance yet against the pandemic. Trump is known as a germaphobe who screams for "the stuff" to sanitise his hands every time he gets into the Royal Car. Which is why I never bought the BS about him not getting tested. He gets tested every day. :yeah: Exactly. Except he may have found the current test too invasive to repeat. He may...

He thought if he pretended it wasn't real, it wouldn't be a problem for his re-election. I think he really did believe that if he closed his eyes and clicked his heels together three times, he could make it disappear, like a miracle. He didn't want it to be real, because presidenting is hard. And h...

Here's what I thought. I have worked in the US Congress and am very familiar with the House and Senate office buildings. The location didn't seem a realistic place for this kind of thing to allegedly happen. But what really struck me was that this was supposedly in 1993 and she said she was not wea...

I assume it was a joke but public transportation is shut down which some people have pointed out makes the lockdown disproportionately harsh on the poor. The transit system in my city is still running, but the fares have been waived at this time. You have to get on the bus through the rear door and...

The "coronavirus party" mentioned in this thread was not a party intended to expose people to the virus so they could obtain immunity. It was a defiance of the stay-at-home order, with the attendees believing they were not at risk: (CNN)At least one person in Kentucky is infected after taking part a...

I've been posting for a week on Twitter about the danger to our health care system. In other pandemics, particularly Ebola, health professionals were most at risk and a large number of them died. They had repeated exposure opportunities and eventually their PPE did not work. If Trump ends the quara...

Question for everyone: Does Trump's alleged 15-day social distancing recommendation, that he says we're a week onto, have any basis in reality? Does anyone remember him saying "15 days" a week ago? Or is this a made up deadline that's now conveniently a week away?

And SURPRISE! Some things never change: As is often the case, you can trace this increasingly relevant Trump sentiment to Fox News. Trump’s comments echo the rhetoric used by weekend host Steve Hilton on Sunday’s show, in which he urged the federal government to “flatten the coronavirus curve, but n...
